UPDATE ^People^ Activities + Exhibitions ^ FALL 1991 For some time, we have missed communications that the Buzz provided. Fred Moorehouse did such a great job, it will be hard to duplicate. But the Buzz staff, with your help, is willing to try. -JBT- From the Editor With practically as much excitement, anxiety and anticipation as that surrounding the birth of a child, many people worked hard and fast to put together this first issue so that we could tell you about future events - especially "The Hundred Languages of Children" exhibition. So mark your calendars (in ink, please!), come to the Club for the events, make new friends and renew old acquaintances. At the very least, your participation may inspire the creativity that abounds in all of us, and be a joy to the visual mind. We'll be hearing from Tom Brunk, our President, in the next issue. He's been extremely busy working on his Master's thesis (architectural history) on ceramic kilns. Watch for "Brunch with Brunk," a Sunday brunch/lecture. Happenings

Garden Party **As the sun set slowly behind the D.I.A., the ScarabfGarden became enchanted. The Kirschman band goteveryone on their feet, dancing in the tropical miragethat the Jacobs and Skoglunds magically produced. Thegarden had been "freshened" earlier by volunteers (weneed a "Garden Committee") and the spread put on byUoodbridge Tavern made the evening one I won't forget.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Scarab Club is a very special organization to usall, whether artist or patron. We all enjoy thesocial activities and exhibitions that "somebody" hashelped put together. However, there's usually morework behind the scenes than can be managed by thesmall handful of regular volunteers who make thingshappen. Further, the unfavorable economy dictatesthat Your support and participation is the criticalvariable between success and failure of the Club'sendeavors. There's a wide variety of tasks that needto be accomplished prior to activities. For instance, immediate help is needed with mailings, garden work, painting, decorations, etc. Please spare some timeand contact the office to assist one of theCommittees: Social, Finance, Membership, Newsletter,Physical Plant, Arts & Exhibitions. Your help will beappreciated.

NEED YOUR INPUT!
