Week 13 | 2019-20 Women's Basketball 1 2019-20 STANDINGS RECAPPING THURSDAY'S GAMES • North Carolina opened Thursday's slate of games with a 78-68 victory at home against Virginia thanks to 23 points and a season-high 17 rebounds from junior Janelle Bailey. • In the sixth overtime game of the season in ACC play, Miami rallied to defeat Georgia Tech, 54-49. The Yellow Jackets led by 18 points at halftime, but a strong second half allowed the Hurricanes to knot the score at the end of regulation and win in overtime. • Boston College recorded its first ranked win of the Joanna Bernabei-McNamee era with a 65-56 victory at No. 14 Florida State. It was the Eagles first win against a ranked opponent since 2015, as senior Emma Guy tallied a game-high 21 points. • Seventh-ranked NC State reached 20 wins for the fifth consecutive season with a 79-60 road win at Clemson behind 23 points from senior Aislinn Konig, who hit a career-best seven 3-pointers in the contest. • No. 5 Louisville picked up its first win in South Bend since 2009, as the Cardinals defeated Notre Dame, 86- 54. The Cards outscored the Fighting Irish, 27-11, in the opening quarter en route to the victory. • A fourth-quarter surge allowed Pitt to earn its first conference win of the season, as the Panthers outscored Wake Forest, 20-9, in the final quarter to knock off the Demon Deacons, 53-48. • Syracuse erased a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit to rally for a 67-65 win against Virginia Tech. The Orange trailed the entire game until the final five seconds when Kiara Lewis gave 'Cuse the lead. THREE TEAMS RANKED IN AP TOP 15 • Three ACC teams are ranked in the top 15 of this week's AP Top 25 Poll, as the conference has had three teams among the top 15 in each poll this season. • Louisville remains ranked No. 5, NC State jumps a spot to No. 7 and Florida State checks in at No. 14 in the rankings this week. LOUISVILLE TO FACE TEAM USA ON SUNDAY • Louisville will play an exhibition game against the USA Basketball Women's National Team on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m., and the game will air live on ESPN. • It will mark the Cardinals' first time playing the USA National Team. TOUGH ON THE ROAD • ACC road wins have been tough to get, as only five of the league's 15 teams have more than one win away from their home gym in conference play. • Louisville, still unbeaten in league play, is the only team that has not lost a conference road game, while a pair of teams are seeking their first ACC road wins. • Ironically, all four of Boston College's conference wins have come on the road. INSIDE ACC ACTION • Seventy-two ACC games have been played this season, and the home team has won 45 games and road teams have won 27 times. • Thirty-four games have been decided by 10 points or less, 18 games decided by less than five points and six games have gone to overtime. HOME COURT ADVANTAGE • Three ACC teams remain unbeaten in home conference games. • NC State has not lost a home game at all this season, posting a 12-0 mark in games played in Raleigh. • Louisville owns a 10-0 mark in home games inside the KFC Yum! Center, including a 5-0 mark in conference games. • The Hokies are also a perfect 10-0 in overall home games this season and 4-0 in ACC games at Cassell Coliseum. NOTING ACC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (CONT.)DUKE'S ODOM NAMED USBWA NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK• A day after garnering ACC Player of the Week honors, Duke senior Leaonna Odom was selected the United States Basketball Association (USBWA) Ann Meyers Drysdale Women's National Player of the Week.• She averaged 19.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals this past week, while hitting 76.0 percent of her field goals in the two contests.

LOUISVILLE ACC'S ONLY UNBEATEN TEAM IN CONFERENCE GAMES• For the first time since the 2015-16 season, Louisville has opened ACC play at 10-0, and the Cardinals are the only unbeaten team in ACC basketball (including men and women).• The Cards’ have won conference games by a scoring margin of 19.30, which is the best of any league team.

DROPPING DIMES• Virginia Tech's Taja Cole, Notre Dame's Marta Sniezek, Wake Forest's Gina Conti and North Carolina's Shayla Bennett all rank among the top 20 in the NCAA for assists this season.• Cole has dished out 132 assists to rank fourth, while Sniezek and Conti have each tallied 114 to tie for 13th. Bennett has dished out 112 assists to rank 16th.• The ACC's four among the top 20 is tied for the most of any conference.

ACC IN NCAA RPI• The ACC has 10 teams among the top 66 of the NCAA RPI, the most of any conference.• Louisville is ranked No. 3 in the most recent RPI, head-lined by two top-25 wins.

MIAMI'S MOMPREMIER NAMED ONE OF THIRTY CANDIDATES FOR SENIOR CLASS AWARD• Miami senior forward Beatrice Mompremier was named one of 30 candidates for the 2019-20 Women's Basketball Senior CLASS Award, which is given annually to student-athletes with notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.• She was named the 2019-20 ACC Preseason Player of the Year and is currently averaging a double-double with 16.3 points and 10.4 rebounds this season. The only senior on the Canes, Mompremier leads by example and is an active member of the community.

FLORIDA STATE'S SEMRAU JOINS ELITE GROUP • Florida State head coach Sue Semrau earned her 200th ACC win against North Carolina on Sunday to become just the fourth coach in league history to reach the milestone. She is joined Virginia’s Debbie Ryan (307 ACC wins), North Carolina’s Sylvia Hatchell (297) and NC State’s Kay Yow (277).

• BOSTON COLLEGE: Thursday's win was the Eagles first win over Florida State since the 2009-10 season. BC defeated the Seminoles, 67-60, in the second round of the ACC Tournament on March 5, 2010.

• CLEMSON: The Tigers have pulled down 326 offensive rebounds this season to lead the conference.

• DUKE: The Blue Devils held Georgia Tech to just four points in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's game, the second fewest points allowed in the fourth quarter in program history.

• FLORIDA STATE: In five ACC road games this season, Gillespie leads the Seminoles in scoring with 20.2 points per game. FSU is 6-0 all-time against Pittsburgh, with all six meetings coming as conference opponents.

• GEORGIA TECH: Georgia Tech has forced 16 or more turnovers by an opponent in 16 games this season and six games of 20 or more by an opponent.

• LOUISVILLE: Louisville jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening quarter against Notre Dame on Thursday and never trailed en route to their first win in South Bend since 2009.

• MIAMI: The Hurricanes are seeking their first true road win of the season on Sunday when they travel to Blacks-burg to battle Virginia Tech.

• NORTH CAROLINA: UNC outscored Virginia, 21-8, in the first quarter to record the highest first-quarter total by the Tar Heels in ACC play, and the lowest first-quarter total by an ACC opponent.

• NC STATE: After its sole loss of the season to rival North Carolina on Jan. 9, NC State has responded by outscoring its last six opponents by an average of 22.7 points.

• NOTRE DAME: Notre Dame and Georgia Tech meet for the 13th time in the history of the programs on Sunday, as the Fighting Irish lead the all-time series, 12-0, against the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1996.

• PITT: The freshman duo of Amber Brown and Rita Igbokwe are combining to average 15.5 rpg, the second best freshman rebounding duo in the NCAA.

• SYRACUSE: The Orange held Virginia Tech to just three points over the final 4:45 to overcome a 10-point deficit to rally for the win.

• VIRGINIA: Senior guard Dominique Toussaint has scored in double figures in seven of her last eight games, including scoring a team-high 16 points at UNC. She has lifted her season scoring average up to 10.3 points per game.

• VIRGINIA TECH: Taja Cole was just shy of a triple double on Thursday night at Syracuse, as she finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

• WAKE FOREST: Senior Alex Sharp joined the 1,000-point club in Thursday's loss at Pitt and becomes the fifth player under Jen Hoover to reach the milestone.

FOUR FROM ACC NAMED TO WOODEN AWARD MIDSEASON WATCH LIST• Four ACC student-athletes have been named to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Watch List, as the list is comprised of 25 student-athletes who are the front-run-ners for basketball's most prestigious honor.• Florida State's senior forward Kiah Gillespie, Louisville's senior guard Dana Evans, Miami's senior forward Beatrice Mompremier and NC State's sophomore center Elissa Cunane were tabbed for the listing.

ON TARGET FROM 3-POINT LAND• Virginia Tech's Aisha Sheppard joined Clemson's Kendall Spray as the only two players in the ACC this season to make eight 3-pointers in a game when she accomplished the feat against NC State.• Both players tied their respective school records for 3-point field goals in a single game and the duo is tied for the most by any ACC player in a game this season.• Only 24 players in the NCAA have made at least eight threes in a game.

SHOOTING IT WELL• Five ACC teams rank among the top 50 in the NCAA in field-goal percentage.• Louisville leads the league at No. 14 with a 46.2 field-goal percentage, while Florida State has connected on 46.1 percent of its shots to rank 17th. • NC State has made 44.4 percent of its shots to rank 40th.• Virginia Tech and Boston College have hit 43.9 and 43.7 percent to rank 47th and 49th, respectively.

CRASHING THE BOARDS• Seven ACC teams rank among the nation's top 65 teams in rebounding margin, the most of any conference, led by No. 8 NC State. The Wolfpack has averaged 10.7 more rebounds than its opponents this season.• Wake Forest is 16th nationally with an 8.9 clip and Florida State is 22nd at 8.5.• Virginia Tech's 8.1 mark ranks 25th nationally and Louisville's 7.6 margin is 36th.• Georgia Tech (49th, 6.1) and Boston College (64th, 4.9) round out the top 65 for the conference.
