Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship ProgramSeptember 6, 2016Spend 12 weeks in winter/spring at the National Academies in Washington, DC, learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. Applicants become part of a National Academies committee, board, or unit where they are assigned to a mentor and learn about the world of science and technology policy.

Humboldt Foundation German Chancellor Fellowship for Prospective LeadersSeptember 15, 2016Conduct independent projects in a broad range of fields such as politics, public administration, and business, as well as society and culture, at a host institution in Germany for one year, network with other prospective leaders from abroad and explore new solutions to the global issues of our times.

W. Stull Holt Dissertation Fellowship: Fellowship intended to defray the costs of travel necessary to conduct research on a significant dissertation project for students whose dissertation deals with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. Applicants for this award will be considered automatically for the Stuart L. Bernath, Gelfand-Rappaport-LaFeber, and Bemis grants.

Lawrence Gelfand – Armin Rappaport – Walter LeFeber Dissertation Fellowship: Fellowship intended to defray the costs of dissertation research travel for students actively working on dissertations dealing with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. Applicants for this award will be considered automatically for the Stuart L. Bernath, Holt, and Bemis grants.

Samuel Flagg Bemis Dissertation Research Grant: Fellowship to help defray the costs of domestic or international travel necessary to conduct research on significant scholarly projects for students actively working on dissertations dealing with some aspect of U.S. foreign relations history. American Educational Research Association Research and Dissertation Grants ProgramAugust 25, 2016This program seeks to stimulate research on U.S. education issues using data from the large scale, national and international data sets supported byt eh National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), NSF, and other federal agencies, and to increase the number of education researchers using these data sets. The program supports research projects that are quantitative in nature, include the analysis of existing data from NCES, NSF, or other federal agencies, and have U.S. education policy relevance.

American Psychological Association Dissertation Research Award September 15, 2016The purpose of the APA Science Directorate’s Dissertation Research Award program is to assist science-oriented doctoral students of psychology with research costs. APA and its affiliate organizations provide a wide range of grants, scholarships, and awards (http://www.apa.org/about/awards/index.aspx) with the aim of advancing the science and practice of psychology as a means of understanding behavior and promoting health, education, and human welfare. The Dissertation Research award includes 30-40 grants of $1,000 each, along with several larger grants of up to $5,000 to students whose dissertation research reflects excellence in scientific psychology.

Merit Scholarships: $2,500 award for students pursing a doctoral degree in areas related to Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Informatics Technology (HIT). One of the major initiatives of the AHIMA Foundation is to attract and support new talent in the HIM industry by improving educational opportunities for current and future HIM professionals through scholarships.

Autism Speaks Dennis Weatherstone Pre-doctoral Fellowship ProgramOctober 1, 2016 (anticipated)Two-year fellowship for students interested in pursuing careers in autism research. Autism Speaks supports global biomedical research into the diagnosis, causes, prevention, and treatment of autism or its disabling symptoms. Funding supports the entire research continuum - from discovery to development to dissemination - for innovative projects that hold considerable promise for significantly improving the lives of those affected by autism.

Patricia Cross Future Leaders AwardOctober 3, 2016Recognizes doctoral students who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education, who demonstrate a commitment to developing academic and civic responsibility in themselves and others, and whose work reflects a strong emphasis on teaching and learning. Student must be nominated by a faculty member or administrator.

American Academy of Audiology Fellowships and Grants October 5, 2016 (anticipated)*See site for additional funding opportunities.

Student Summer Research Fellowship: This summer research fellowship is for students in a program in audiology or hearing science who wish to gain a limited, but significant, exposure to a research environment.

Student Investigator Research Grant: The purpose of this grant is to support doctoral students working toward a degree in audiology or hearing science who wish to complete a research project as part of their course of study.

National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation FellowshipOctober 6, 2016The Dissertation Fellowship Program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. These $27,500 fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory, analysis, or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world.

National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants in the Directorate for Biological SciencesOctober 13, 2016The National Science Foundation awards Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants in selected areas of the biological sciences. Proposals must fall within the scope of any of the clusters in the Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) or the Behavioral Systems Cluster in the Division of Integrative Organismal Systems (IOS).
