Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that third quarter is coming to an end. This year is going by quickly!

Our littles were hit hard with the influenza and other nasty germs this year! I hope as spring approaches that everyone will start to feel better!

Thank you for being mindful with your child’s attendance. You are helping to build the foundation of good attendance that will carry over when they enter the workforce as adults.

CurriculumWe will be finishing up Goldilocks and the Three Bears as March begins. Following this unit, the students will have spring break! After spring break, we will start the Transportation unit. The book is The Little House. The phoneme for the transportation unit is Cc. The students will review Ss and Kk. In phonological awareness groups, students may help write a story about words that begin with the sounds /s/ or /k/ and the letter Cc or create a train with monosyllabic word families. In circle time, students will compare and contrast the city and the country, talk about things we ride on, and talk about trains, airplanes, and other modes of

More Important NewsSchool Safety

School safety is always on the minds of parents and educators. We want to assure you that safety is our number one priority. We have many school security features in place to keep students and staff safe. Thanks to the voters in April 2017, our district was able to add even more security features to our buildings and classrooms. In addition to these security measures, staff receives regular training on what to do in the event of an emergency and we practice drills regularly. Learning can’t take place in an environment that isn’t safe. Therefore, safety first, ALWAYS!

Kindergarten Transition

Many of our students will be transitioning to kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. If your family is still going to be in the Waynesville School District, your child’s information will automatically transfer to their kindergarten center. You DO NOT need to enroll your student for kindergarten. You will need to go to your child’s kindergarten center to complete building-specific enrollment forms and to sign up for transportation, if needed. Kindergarten round up dates are May 5, 6, and 7.

Spring!

As the weather warms up, our students will be going out to recess more. Make sure you send your child to school in clothes and shoes that will help them safely play on playground equipment. Also, it is always a good idea to send in a jacket. It is Missouri after all! Thank you!
