Kids’ Choice Book Club:
Congratulations to the enthusiastic students who took on the challenge of reading a book each week for five weeks: Seth Avila, Allison Beggs, J’Aaliyah Bray, Erick Covarrubias, Livia Edmunds, Alyssa Fischer, Erica Kelley, Alexandra Hernandez Lucio, Teddy Hilquist, Simon Lee, Mary Kate Lichty, Karina Meyers, Julia Teixeira, Linh Tuong, Tommy VanHandel, and Dani Williams.
The books, all published in 2014, were: Brown Girl Dreaming by Woodson, The Crossover by Alexander, El Deafo by Bell, The Madman of Piney Woods by Curtis and The Port Chicago 50 (non-fiction) by Sheinkin. The two groups met together for their final meeting to further discuss what they had learned from reading these books, and to vote for their favorite book, which was The Crossover.
The Healthy Dane Collaborative (HDC) invites you to participate in the 2015 Community Health Needs Assessment survey! Your opinion matters! HDC members are St. Mary’s Hospital, Meriter Hospital, UW Health, Stoughton Hospital, Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin and Public Health Madison Dane County. Every 3 years the HDC conducts a countywide Community Health Needs Assessment. The data from the assessment will help guide programs and funding to improve health in the areas identified by you, the voices of Dane County. Box Top Contest Update The PTO would like to send a big "thank you" to all the students and families that helped make our first Box Top contest a success! Together we raised $471 during the contest alone. Combined with Box Tops from the rest of the school year, we will be submitting $1041 worth of Box Tops this year. That's $41 over our goal! THANK YOU!! Ms. Scott's class collected 805 Tops to claim the coveted trophy for the rest of the year. Congratulations also to Ms. Magnus's and Ms. Davis's classes for coming in second and third places, respectively. If you do not see you child's class on this list, do not despair... the next Box Top contest will be coming this fall. Continue to save your Box Tops this Spring and over the Summer to help your child's class get on (box) TOP!

Liz Schlitz, School Counselor
As you may or may not have heard I will be having a baby at the end of April or beginning of May! This means that I will be on maternity leave once the baby is born for the rest of the school year. I am very excited to enter the world of motherhood but will also miss all the excitement the end of the school year brings.
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce Liz Singer who will
be taking over for my role as School Counselor while I am on my maternity leave. Liz will be a wonderful addition to Stoner Prairie and I feel confident that she will transition very smoothly into the position. Please read her introduction below and feel free to contact her with any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing everyone back at Stoner Prairie in the fall! “My name is Liz Singer and I am very excited to be filling in for Liz Schlitz as the long-term substitute school counselor during her maternity leave at the end of this school year. I have spent this school year interning in the Watertown school district at all levels. I will graduate from UW-Whitewater next month and will receive my Master's degree in School Counseling. I attended UW-Madison for my undergraduate degree, so I am glad to be back in Badger country again, and very glad for the opportunity to get to know the students and faculty at Stoner Prairie! Stoner Prairie will be hosting an all-school field day on Wednesday, May 27th (rain date- May 28th) which will include lots of games, exercise, and fun for the kids. The following schedule includes 8 different games & relays for each field day session. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the family picnics with their child. 9:00-10:30am: K-2nd and PALS 1st-3rd grade field day 10:45-11:45am: K-2nd and PALS 1st-3rd grade family picnic 11:30am-12:30pm: 3rd-5th grade family picnic 12:30-2:00pm: 3rd-5th grade field day Of course, no school event can be successful without the help of many parent volunteers! Smiles 4 Life Dental Clinic is coming to Stoner Prairie for Spring Cleanings!
May 20th and June 4th • State-of-the-art portable dental equipment is used to provide oral screenings,
cleanings, fluoride applications, and dental sealants (cavity prevention) right at school during the regular school day.
• We accept the Forward Health (BadgerCare) Card!
• Enrollment is open to all students in the district Pre-K through 12th Grade.
• A one time, one page enrollment form is all that is needed to participate. Forms are
available online (http://www.smiles4lifedental.org), in any school office, or you may call Smiles 4 Life directly at (262) 896-9891. Completed forms can be turned into any school office.
• A free take home oral hygiene kit with a new toothbrush is provided for participants.

Los libros que fueron publicados en 2014, fueron: Brown Girl Dreaming por Woodson, The Crossover por Alexander, El Deafo por Bell, The Madman of Piney Woods por Curtis y The Port Chicago 50 (no-ficción) por Sheinkin. Ambos grupos se reunieron por última vez para dialogar acerca de lo que aprendieron a través de la lectura del libro titulado The Crossover.

Actualización de la Competencia de los Cupones de Box Top La organización de Padres y Maestros (PTO) desea agradecerles a todos los estudiantes y familias que ayudaron a que nuestra primera competencia de la colección de cupones Box Tops fuera un éxito. Juntos recaudamos $471 dólares solamente a través de este reto. Combinado con los cupones Box Tops del resto del ciclo escolar, recaudamos lo de $1,041 dólares en puros cupones de Box Tops este ciclo escolar, ¡lo cual fue de $41 dólares más que nuestra meta, gracias! Como algunos de ustedes ya han de saber que ¡voy a dar a luz a mi bebe a finales de abril o a principios de mayo! Esto significa que estaré de incapacidad por maternidad una vez que nazca mi bebe por el resto de este ciclo escolar. Estoy muy emocionada de entrar al mundo de la maternidad pero también extrañaré toda la emoción que conlleva el final del ciclo escolar.
Quiero tomar esta oportunidad para presentarle a Liz Singer quien se quedará en mi lugar como Consejera Escolar mientras estoy de incapacidad de maternidad. Liz es un gran complemento para Stoner Prairie y me siento con la confianza que tendrá una buena transición en su nuevo papel. Por favor lea su presentación a continuación y no dude en comunicarse con ella con cualquier pregunta o inquietud. ¡Estoy emocionada por ver a todos de nuevo en Stoner Prairie en el otoño!

¡Vamos a prepararnos para divertirnos en el DÍA DE CAMPO de Stoner Prairie!
Stoner Prairie será en anfitrión del día de campo de toda la escuela el miércoles 27 de mayo (en caso de que llueva será el día 28 de mayo) tendremos muchos juegos, ejercicio y diversión para los niños y niñas. El siguiente horario incluye 8 juegos diferentes y carreras para cada sesión de día de campo. Se les invita y motiva a los padres a que asistan a los picnics/días de campo familiares con sus hijos. 9:00-10:30am: Día de campo para K-2do y PALS 1ero-3er grado 10:45-11:45am: Picnic familiar K-2do y PALS 1ero-3er grado 11:30am-12:30pm: Picnic familiar 3er-5to grado 12:30-2:00pm: Día de campo 3er-5to grado ¡Claro que ningún evento de la escuela tendría éxito, si no fuera por la ayuda de muchos padres voluntarios! Se necesitarán voluntarios para 2 turnos: 8:30am-10:30am: Para ayudar con la organización y el día de campo de K-2do grado 12:30pm-2:35pm: Para ayudar con la limpieza y el día de campo de 3ro-5to grado Si le es posible ayudarnos durante el día de campo, por favor mande un correo electrónico a Sara Kelley en [email protected] para más información. ¡¡Hagamos todo lo que podamos para hacer de esto un evento de “fin de año” emocionante, que los niños podrán recordar siempre!!
La Clínica Dental “Smiles 4 Life” viene a Stoner Prairie para ofrecer limpiezas dentales durante la primavera
del 20 de mayo – 4 de junio
• Se usa el equipo portátil de última generación para proveer evaluaciones orales, limpiezas, aplicaciones de fluoruro y selladores dentales (para la prevención de caries) en la escuela durante la jornada escolar.
• Se acepta la tarjeta de Forward Health (BadgerCare)
• Las citas están disponibles para todos los estudiantes en el distrito, del preescolar de 4 años/Pre-K hasta el grado 12.
• Solo se requiere que complete un formulario de inscripción para participar. Los formularios se encuentran en línea (http://www.smiles4lifedental.org), en cualquier de las oficinas principales en las escuelas o puede llamar al programa Smiles 4 Life directamente al 262-896-9891. Debe entregar sus formularios completos a la oficina escolar.
• Los participantes recibirán un conjunto de artículos para la higiene dental y un cepillo de dientes nuevo.
• Se mandará a casa un reporte de su visita a la clínica para notificarle del resultado de su cita con Smiles 4 Life.
