Long-term complications of diabetesdevelop gradually. The reality is, thelonger you have diabetes — and the lesscontrolled your blood sugar — the higherthe risk of complications. Eventually,diabetes complications may be disablingor even life-threatening. One of thesecomplications, nerve damage(neuropathy), will be the topic of thisyear’s forum. Safe Sitter is a medically accurateprogram that teaches boys and girls ages11 to 13 how to handle emergencieswhen caring for children. This classteaches safe and nurturing child caretechniques, behavior management skills,and appropriate responses to medicalemergencies.
