Welcome to ourFaculty of Arts Futures Festival

Arts graduates go into a wide range of careers across all sectors. To be successful in a competitive job market, it is important to develop your personal interests and skills alongside your academic abilities.

The exhibitors here today will give you an insight into how to do this and make the most of your time at university. There are stalls in Highfield House and a marquee next to the New Theatre — visit both venues to get the most out of this event!

Berwin Leighton Paisner (stall 2)Law firms want innovative thinkers who can engage with complex legal matters. A creative approach is key.

Student stories (stalls 3, 25)Talk to current students about their involvement in all the things that university life has to offer, how they are building their CVs and what advice they have for you at the start of autumn term.

Journalism and PR (stall 24)Communication, analytical techniques and problem–solving skills are highly relevant for these professions and they are a popular choice for many arts graduates.

Heritage (stall 26)‘Everywhere we look, history surrounds us’. With requirements for skills from research to marketing, a career within the heritage sector is an aspiration for many arts graduates.

Work experienceDigital Humanities Centre (stall 6)Offering digital support for students as well as volunteering opportunities in digital media and the arts.

Primary School Volunteering and Widening Participation (stall 11)Find out about opportunities to volunteer in primary school activities including running sessions on your subject, delivering campus tours, working with families and being an ambassador for the University.

EnterpriseLab (stall 12)Learn about the practical aspects of business development and build your entrepreneurial skills.

Unitemps (stall 13)Part–time jobs on campus and with local companies through our recruitment agency, Unitemps.

Embedding Employability in English (stall 14)Work–related learning and reflecting in the creative industries.

Creative Student Network (stall 15)A network that provides students with skills and advice to help them find jobs in the creative industries.

Crop Up Gallery (stall 16) Crop–Up Gallery is a student–run curatorial group founded by art history students. Members can gain valuable experience in areas such as leadership, curatorship, fundraising, networking and marketing.

Careers resourcesCareers skills workshops (stall 17)How do you develop the skills that employers want? How can you ‘brand’ yourself to compete in a competitive job market?

Students’ Union skills development (stall 18)Society organisation, volunteering and other Students’ Union activities are the best way to throw yourself into university life, and are a great way to build your CV while doing something you love.

Nottingham Advantage Award (stall 19)Around 150 extracurricular modules designed to make you more employable are available through our Nottingham Advantage Award.
