IV - FLOW REGULATOR (I.M.V)

IMV = Inlet Metering Valve

The fuel flow regulator is used to regulate the rail pressure by metering the fuel flow let in by the high pressure pump.

b - Outlet (high pressure pump)

• When the fuel flow regulator (3) is not energised: the piston (8) is held at the bottom of its housing by the spring (9). The connection between the 2 pipes is open. The fuel is directed towards the high pressure stage of the HP pump (2).

• When the fuel flow regulator (3) is energised, the coil (10) of the fuel flow regulator drives the magnetic core (11). The piston (12) moves and the connection between the 2 pipes is closed.

The inlet to the high pressure stage of the high pressure pump is closed.
