Wow, I can't believe the first two years, of a three year commitment, have • !~!~~~~~~~ already zipped by. I know, it sounds corny to me too, but it's true. When I was elected 'President-Elect' for UNOPA in Spring 2014 it was exciting and daunting at the same time, just thinking about three years. I want you to

know it has truly been an honor to serve the UNOPA membership in this capacity for the past two years and I look forward to this third and final year, serving as your immediate past president and director of the Bradley Munn Fund during the 2016-2017 academic year.

I also want you to know that in addition to the networking and social aspect, UNOPA serves a very vital role to the office professionals of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. UNOPA ensures that the office and service staff have a voice in the future direction of the university. UNOPA has been given the privilege of having representation on the following UNL Campus Committees: Campus Grievance, Campus Recreation Advisory, Chancellor's Campus Safety, Chancellor's Commission on Environmental Sustainability, Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women, Child Care, Emergency Employee Loan Fund Advisory, Employee Benefits & U-Wide Employee Fringe Benefits, Academic Senate, James V. Griesen Exemplary Service to Students Award, Parking Advisory, Parking Appeals, and wellness.

We were also invited to have representation on the search committee for our new chancellor and many other special committees as different needs arise.

All of this is to emphasize just how important UNOPA is to all office professionals of UNL, not just our membership. Our voice has made significant impact in the past and it can continue to, with your help. I encourage each of you to become active on board committees or on campus-wide committees. please encourage your colleagues to become members ofUNOPA. Help us keep UNOPA vibrant and vital.

Pictures from 2016 Rose Frolik luncheon

The 2016 Rose FrolikAward Luncheon was held on April 19, 2016. A group of more than 70 UNOPA members, past presidents, retirees and guests met in the Great Plains Room of the Nebraska East Union. After a short business meeting, Marsha Yelden, Corresponding Secretary, read the names of our Past Presidents. The four recent retirees also were acknowledged.

Each Past President and recent retiree in attendance was given a "Lucky Bamboo" plant to show them how lucky we are to have them in our lives.

The 2016 Rose Frolik Nominees and Judges were announced by Sara Luther, Awards Committee Chair. The nominees were Breana Garretson, Murd Holland, Betty James and Jane Schneider.

Sandy Lineberry had the honor of presenting the 2016 Rose Frolik Award to Jane Schneider. Congratulations to Jane and all the nominees!

Serve on a committee next year One of the goals of the Employee Concerns committee is to make sure that UNOPA is represented on various committees across the campus. It is important to have representation on all relevant campus committees. This activity allows us to provide input and feedback regarding various policies that impact all of us. Each year the Employee Concerns Director will look for members willing to provide this input/feedback on various committees.

In fact, recently UNOPA was contacted by the Campus Recreation Center looking to add the voice ofUNOPA on the council, since we haven't had a representative for two years. (The representative must be a member of Campus Recreation.)

When someone contacts you for service on a committee next year, consider accepting the offer! This can be your way to give back to the campus community.

Thanks from Parking Committee for Spring Game help On April 16 for the Spring Game, we parked a total of 17 cars. Thanks to Marcy Tintera, Edie Schleiger, Mary Greer and Jane Schneider for helping Jan and Linda on that day.

As this was our last "official duty" for the year, we would like to thank ALL of you who helped us out with the parking lot this year. Hopefully you got to visit with friends who you normally wouldn't see during the work week and caught up on each other's lives.

Aiycia Libolt reports that UNOPA has thus far received $3,712 for working the Whittier parking lot. We have not yet received our "take" from the Spring Game.
