November 29, 2012
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the women and men of AIDS Service Center NYC, thank you for being a part of our inaugural gala, Unmask AIDS. We are honored to salute our “Positive Changemakers,” Sean Strub, executive director of The Sero Project and Paul Chapman, vice chairman of ABC Carpet & Home. Together, we have sustained vital programs that bring help and hope to New Yorkers affected by HIV/AIDS.
Over the years, ASCNYC services have evolved to keep pace with a changing epidemic. In recent years, that’s meant creating partnerships with New York’s most prestigious hospitals and outpatient clinics— alliances that connect people living with HIV/AIDS with lifesaving medical care, peer education, and support.
Meanwhile, we fight every day to stem the tide of new infections. Our HIV counseling and testing program identifies those newly infected, connects newly diagnosed people to specialized medical care, and provides intensive education and support aimed at reducing HIV transmission.
ASCNYC helps New Yorkers affected by HIV and other chronic illnesses reclaim their lives. We build relationships with people, support their efforts to make positive changes, and welcome them into a community of safety and healing.
As we look towards our next decade of service, we pledge to continue to honor the memory of those no longer with us and to combat bigotry, stigma, and shame. Finally, we hope for a cure so that services like ours are no longer needed.
Sincerely,
William Toler, PA Sharen I. Duke, MPH Board Chair Executive Director/CEO
ASCNYC extends a heartfelt thanks to many wonderful and inspiring individuals and organizations for their extraordinary contributions to ASCNYC and Unmask AIDS.

People like Diane.
“Before I came to ASCNYC my spirit was broken. Someone told me about ASCNYC’s Peer Education Training Program, and becoming a Peer and training others helped me turn my life around. Now it’s not about what I can get, but what I can give back. ASCNYC gave me the tools to help myself and others.
Today, I am a woman who’s gotten her self-confidence and self-worth back. I’m so thankful for my second chance at life.”
