The Centralized Admission Process (CAP), offers facility for online submission of single application for admission to various degree programmes in multiple colleges affiliated to the University. CAP helps students to submit applications to affiliated colleges of their choice through simple online steps. This hassle-free process is time saving, cost effective and ensures transparency in admission.

Centralized Admission Process (CAP)

Admission to the UG Programmes in Arts and Science colleges (except UG programmes to which admission is based on entrance examinations and BA Afsal-ul-Ulama) affiliated to the University of Calicut including 50 % of seats set apart for Merit Admission in the Self Financing colleges for the Academic Year 2014-2015 will be conducted through Centralized Admission Process ) as per the details given below.

The Centralized Admission Process (CAP), offers facility for online submission of application to various colleges and programmes. Students can opt upto 30 programmes of their choice on priority basis from the affiliated colleges through simple online steps available in CAP (website www.cuonline.ac.in).

This hassle-free process is time saving, cost effective and ensures transparency in admission. The online allotment process provides the candidates, the opportunity to obtain admission to any of the affiliated colleges/Centres and to the programmes of his/her choice on the basis of merit. It also helps to give maximum exposure to various colleges and programmes under the jurisdiction of the University. Classification/Categorization of Seats: The seats available in the colleges are classified as merit,reservation and community/managementseats.Merit:

The seats filled by the University in Government/Aided/Un Aided (Self-financing) and Self Financing programmes in Aided colleges purely on the basis of the merit. Reservation:

The seats filled by the University in Government/Aided/UnAided and Self Financing programmes in Aided colleges that are earmarkedfor SEBC/BPL/SC/ST/OBX/OBH etc and Reservation seats for candidates from Union Territory of Lakshdweep/Tamil Linguistic Minority /Person with disabilities/Sports etc.See reservation rules (Annexure III )Community:

Candidates seeking admission under any category (General/SEBC/BPL/SC/ST/Community/mangement/ Reservation seats for candidates from Union Territory of Lakshdweep/TamilLinguistic Minority /Person with disabilities/Sports quota etc) to the courses offered by the colleges affiliated to the University of Calicut for the under graduate programmes should compulsorily register through (CAP). 2.Eligibility Criteria for admission to various courses through CAPSee General Admission rules Annexure-I & IV

3. Procedure for Applying through CAP.

1.) Preferably use the latest version of Mozilla Firefox.

2.) Read Prospectus and Instructions carefully before proceeding with the registration.

3.) Do not press back button during the process of registration

3.1 The online registration under CAP will be done in two steps.

a) Online Payment of Fee.

b) Online submission of application.

3.2 Online Payment of FeeAll candidates registering for the Under

Graduate Degree programmes should remit the fee through Instant Web Payment System (CUIWPS). Keep ready the Following:

a.) Date of Birthb.) Mobile Number (mobile number of students,parents or guardian should only be furnished)

c) E-mail (Email Id of students, parents or guardian should only be entered here.Those who don't have an Email-Id may create one and enter).d) Fee : Rs 100/- for General category and Rs 50/- for SC/ST.

3.2.1.Use the url the https://www.uoc.ac.in to pay registration fee. 3.2.2 Mode of Remittance of fee by candidates from inside KERALA.

a) State Bank of Travancore online payment (For those who have online banking facility).b) E-Chalan: State Bank of Travancore Only

3.2.3 Mode of Remitance of fee by candidates Outside Kerala

a) State Bank of Travancore online payment (For those who have online banking facility).b) E-Chalan (SBT only).

3.2.4 Instructions:

If mode of payment is State Bank of Travancore onlline

1.) Select the Purpose of remittance (UGSW01- Centralized Admission Process Degree 2014-Application Fee

2.) Furnish the details in fields 2 to 7 (mobile number and e-mail ID only that of the student/parent/guardian).

3.) Select the mode of payment -SBT online.4.) Enter the fee amount and click the

button”Proceed”. 5.) You can view the details now, if the details

are correct click “ Pay Now.”6.) In the next page click “Continue for

Payment”.Remit the fee online as per the instructions in the online payment site of SBT.

7.) Click redirect to the Calicut University Instant Web Payment Sytem (CUIWPS) or wait for 60 seconds to be redirected.

8.) Take printout of the online payment “RECEIPT”. CAP ID Number and Password will be received by SMS/e-mail, with which the candidate can login to CAP and complete the online application submission.

3.2.5 If mode of payment is E-Chalan of SBT.

1. Select the Purpose of remittance ( UGSW01-Centralized Admission Process Degree

2014-Application Fee).2. Furnish the details in fields 2 to 7 (mobile

number and e-mail ID only that of the student/parent/guardian).

3. Select the mode of payment SBT E-Chalan.4. Enter the fee amount and click the button

“Proceed”. THE CHALAN FORM CAN BE VIEWED. TAKE PRINT OUT OF THE SAME.

If mode of payment selected is SBT E-Chalan a SMS will be received with in 2 to 6 hours.After which he/she can remit the amount in any SBT branch. The candidate's copy of the chalan may be kept in hand and the college copy may be submitted along with the print out of the application to the college at the time of admission. And after 24 hours of the payment another SMS/e-mail will be received intimating the CAP ID number and password. After the receipt of this SMS he/she can login and submit the application.

The payment procedure has been completed.

4. Refund of feeFee once remitted will not be refunded.5 . Online submission of application.5.1Keep ready the following1) The CAP ID number and password received in your mobile.2) Copy of the Qualifying Ceritificate.3) Passport size photograph scanned and saved in '.jpg' format with a size less than 40 KB.4) List of colleges and programmes of your choice on priority basis.Thirty programmes from among the various affiliated colleges can be opted.See Annexure-V for list of colleges and courses.5) Income Certificate for BPL candidates.

5.2. Visit Website by typing www.cuonline.ac.in

(preferably use Mozilla Firefox).

5.3. From the home page of the CAP login using CAP ID number and password. a) Upload the photo (Size less than 40kb).

b) Enter the details in the blank fields.

5.4. STEP 1 Enter Personal Details. Utmost care should be taken while entering reservation details. Those who apply under the BPL category should submit the order No, date of order and details of issuing authority.

5.6. STEP 3 PROCEDURE FOR REGISTERING OPTIONS: Enter College and programme according to the priority. A list in the order of priority may be prepared and kept well in advance. List of College and programmes are available in Annexure V. Once the candidate completes the option entry he/she can view options by clicking the link provided to edit and save the options.The colleges and programme displayed in the print out will be in accordance to the priority opted by the candidate.

Registration procedure completed. Take printout of the application form. No need to send the copy of the print out to the University. The application along with the E-Chalan / Online payment receipt should be submitted to the college at the time of admission.

6. Submission of Hard Copy of Application

Students are advised to keep the printout of the application and chalan/payment slip with themselves. It shall be produced at the time of admission to the college after allotment. The print out of application/chalan or any other document regarding the admission “need not be” send to the University under any circumstances. 7. Allotment:

There will be five allotment.Classes will commence after the first three allotments. The rest of the two allotments will done after the commencement of the classes. In case the list of allotees to a particular programme in a college exhausts and seats are lying vaccant even after the last date for closure of all admissions, chance to fill the vaccancies will be provided.The list of programmes and courses which the candidates are eligible to opt will be displayed after the submission of educational details (Stage 4) during registration. List of colleges and programmes opted by the candidate will be displayed in the order of their choice. THE ALLOTMENTS ARE MADE FROM AMONG THIS LIST OF COLLEGES AND PROGRAMMES OPTED.8. Trial Allotment

A trial allotment will be conducted to give the applicants an idea about the chances of getting allotment to a programme and college based on the options, merit and reservation rules. After the trial allotments candidates will be allowed to verify and correct their options. The trial allotment does not guarantee that the candidate will get allotment in a college or a programme of his/her choice, since the ranks may vary in actual allotment subject to the rearrangement of options by applicants after the trial allotment.

9. First Allotment

9.1 After the trial allotment and the period earmarked for rearranging options the first allotment list will be published on the date as per the schedule (See Page 1). On receiving allotment to a particular option , all other lower options will be automatically cancelled and only the higher options will prevail until deletion or

modification by the candidate.9.2 There will be five allotments for the admission. For schedule of allotments see page 1. The candidates who receive allotment should pay the following mandatory fee (in single E-chalan/online payment) within the time prescribed (as per the schedule in page 1), for confirmation of the allotment.

9.3 Remittance of Mandatory fee A) For General Category Rs 230/- as given below.

1. Sports affiliation fee : Rs.100/-2. Matriculation fee : Rs.80/-3. University Union fee : Rs.50/-

B) For SC/ST

A refundable fee of Rs 20/- only need be remitted. The fee will be refunded only after the completion of the whole procees of admission.

9.4 After remitting such fee, candidates should again login to the CAP using CAP ONLINE ID and Password received during the registration and accept the allotment. At this stage the candidate will be deemed to have accepted the admission to the course and college allotted. Those who fail to remit the fee or those who fail accept allotment on or before the time prescribed for the same , will lose the current allotment as well as the eligibility for further allotments.

9.5 If the candidate is satisfied with an allotment and does not want to be considered for further allotments, candidate must cancel all the remaining higher options. Candidates retaining all or any one of his/her higher options after an allotment are bound to accept the next allotment. Failing to do this will result in losing previous allotment as well as the new allotments.10. Cancellation of Option/rearrangement of priority of options

Candidates can login into CAP from the home page and edit/ modify or delete the options submitted earlier within the prescribed time. (See the schedule in page 1).

11. Other details related to allotments 11.1 If a candidate gets allotment to a particular programme and college, based on his/her option, he/she shall report/join the programme by the scheduled date, failing which, he/she will lose that allotment and will not be considered for any further allotments.11.2 Candidates will not be allotted to a college/programme not opted by them. 11.3 A candidate is bound to accept an allotment as per the priority of options registered. If he/she gets allotment in the subsequent phase, based on higher options against, he/she has to relinquish the seat already occupied by him/her.11.4 Request to retain a previous allotment after subsequent allotment (according to his/her higher options registered) will not be considered under any circumstances.12 Reporting to the College for admission All the candidates who get allotment should report for admission at the college concerned after remitting the fee (University manadatory fee-see clause 9.3 A & B).The candidates should produce the following documents in original before the Principal/Head of the college/Institution at the time of admission.

i. The print out of the application ii. College copy of the E-chalan/online payment

slip for registration fee.iii. Receipt/Chalan of the fee remitted for

acceptance of allotment. (University manadatory fee see clause 9.3 A & B).

iv. Age proof

v. Qualifying Certificate. vi. Mark List(s) of the qualifying examination.vii. Transfer Certificate received from the

Institution last studied.

viii.Conduct Certificate. viii. Equivalency /Recognition Certificate ( if

applicable). ix. Any other documents (Income Certificate /

Nativity Certificate /Community Certificate) as directed by the admitting authorities.

x. Candidates who claim bonus/weightage marks shall produce relevant certificates.

12 Confirmation of AdmissionAs the allotment is made based on the

information furnished online by the candidate, the eligibility should be confirmed by the Principal/Head of the college/Institution at the time of admission. The Principal/Head of the college/Institution should verify the original documents produced, with the details furnished by the candidates in the online application. Any discrepancies which invalidate the allotment should be informed to the University and in such cases the admission should be denied immediately. The Principal/Head of the college/Institution shall be held personally responsible for ensuring the correctness of the relevant details in the application, by verifying the original records produced by the candidate. The University will also verify the genuineness of the certificates furnished by the candidates in due course of time and any discrepancies noticed will lead to the cancellation of the admission.

13.Community Quota The candidates seeking admission to the

community quota in aided colleges should register in CAP. University will prepare a list of such candidates and the colleges will admit the candidates based on the merit from this list.The community list will prepared and forwarded to the colleges after the third allotment, but before commencement of classes.

14.Management Quota/Sports quota /Person with disabilities

The candidates seeking admission to the above quotas in aided/unaided colleges should register in CAP. In addition to this an application should also be submitted by candidates applying for management quota seats to the respective college. The candidates applying for Sports quota and seats reserved for Person with disabilities need not submit seperate application to the colleges.

The candidate's applying only for management seats in aided/unaided colleges can furnish the same in the third step of registration. These candidates will not be considered for general allotment.

15. Marginal Increase of Seats

The marginal increase in seats for the academic year 2014-2015 sanctioned by the Syndicate at its meeting held on 12.05.2014 will also be filled through CAP. The selection of candidates for the marginal increase in seats sanctioned shall be made according to the rules prescribed by the University for filling the original seats.

ADMISSION RULES ANNEXURE I

GENERAL RULES (Relevant For CAP)

I IMPORTANT: Orders regarding amendments, modifications, additions, deletions etc., issued by the University from time to time, are to be timely incorporated to these Rules.

1. Students shall be admitted to the various programmes of study in an affiliated college on the basis of the rules prescribed by the University and communicated to the college from time to time.

2. i.The University will notify every year a uniform Schedule for the Admission of students to the different courses in the affiliated colleges.

ii. The Schedule will comprised the last date for online registration & date of allotments.

3. The last date for issuance f o r o n l i n e r e g i s t r a t i o n w i l l be the 15th day after the publication of the result of the qualifying examination.The last date for admission shall be the 60th

day after commencement of classes

for the respective course or as per the Schedule of Admission.

4. The Principals can make readmission of candidates within the sanctioned strength including marginal increase, if any, within the stipulated time. (Circular No. G1/B1/3946/2002 dated 12.7.2002).

5 Each applicants for admission to B.A/B.Sc/B.Com courses will be given choices of groups as subjects to which he/she may seek admission in the order of preference.

6 The details of the candidates registered in the colleges may be entered by the colleges after the completion of each allotment and before commencement of the next allotment.

9 The Principal shall fill up all the seats lying vacant as on the closing date as per the instruction/arrangement by the University. If vacancies exist even after the closing of the admissions, the Principal has the option to fill up such vacancies by candidates seeking college transfer in the form of combination of attendance with permission from the University in this regard, or as per the instruction/arrangement by the University, if the Principal certifies the vacancy and the eligibility as such and also that he/she shall be eligible to earn the required Attendance and Progress in the remaining period of the academic year. Requests from the candidates without proper certification / recommendation by the Principals of the colleges concerned shall not be entertained by the University.

10. Admission to any programme of study shall not exceed sanctioned strength in anticipation of the approval by the University.

11. The selection of candidates for the marginal increase in seats sanctioned shall be made according to the rules prescribed by the University for filling the original seats.

12. The total intake including marginal increase and additional seats should not in any way exceed the Statutory maximum limit (except in the case of admission of Lakshadweep students, as provided in Section III.3).

13. Final list of candidates selected under each category and admitted to various programmes/groups shall be put on the notice board prominently as soon as admissions are over and shall be intimated to the University.

14. A list showing the number of applications received for various programmes from the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes students and the number of candidates admitted to each course should be published on the notice boards of all colleges in each academic year (GA I /A2/7899/1997 dated 29.02.2000). A copy of the same should be sent by Registered Post to the Registrar.

15. The rules regarding reservation of seats to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Communities including OEC should be strictly followed.

16. No fee other than those prescribed by the University/Government shall be levied from the students.

17 a. Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examinations at an annual or its preceding supplementary examination s held by the examination authorities alone are eligible to seek admission to any course of study under the University. Candidates are not eligible to seek admission to a course in a particular academic year if they have passed the qualifying examination in the Supplementary/ September examination in the same academic year to which they seek admission.

b. The interval between the date of passing the qualifying exam and the exam for which admission is sought should not be less than the normal period prescribed for the of stud y .

c. Candidates who have passed the HSE and VHSE of Government of Kerala under ‘Save a Y ea r ’ Scheme and Compartmental Examination of CBS E are eligible for admission to first year degree course in the same academic year itself. Such admissions can be made into the existing vacancies, if any, without reopening the admissions already finalized or disturbing the list already prepared (Circular No. GA1/A2/ 5753 /2000 dated 29.8.2001, 20.6.2003 and U.O. No. GAI /A2/ 5753/ 2000 dated 14.05.2004).

18. Candidates who had discontinued their studies in the first of the course with or without Transfer Certificate also should seek admission again to the first year just as fresh candidates seeking admission after passing the qualifying examination.

19. Children of service persons who are awarded by gallantry decorations in the Vir Chakra service either in person or posthumously and also on Non-Decorated service Personnel who are killed in

action will be exempted from the requirement of minimum marks prescribed for admission to B.Com, M.A/ M.Com/ M.Sc courses. (GA/G2/28074/1984 dated 01.12.1986)

20. Equivalency / Recognition of the qualifying examinations taken from other Universities / Institutions should be confirmed strictly before making admission of students, except in the case of HSE / VHSE of the Kerala State Board and all regular HSE courses conducted by other State Boards, AISSCE (XII std.) of CBSE and ISCE.

21.The equivalency certificates/Recognition certificates issued from this University are of a general nature, without verifying originals of the qualifying certificate and other records of the candidates. Therefore the Admitting authorities have to verify properly and ensure the genuineness of the claims of the candidates regarding the qualifications, mode of study, duration of the course 10+2+3 (pattern) etc. before granting admission.

22. If the Principals of any college/Admitting Authority make any irregular admission a fine of Rs.10,000/- per admission will be imposed as per the Syndicate decision dated 07.01.2006 vide U.O. No. GAI/A2/4394/2004 dated 04.02.200624. Concessions to Backward Communities;a. Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes

candidates who have secured minimum pass in the qualifying examination are eligible for admission to higher courses in the affiliated colleges. (U.O. No. GA I/ BI/36/1992 dated 08.10.92)

b. Other Backward Communities will be allowed a concession of 5% in the minimum marks required for admission to all Degree and PG courses (U.O.No.GAI/A2/9091/1994 Vol. II, dated 26.07.2003).

c. Other Eligible Communities are also eligible for relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks for admission to various courses of study in the affiliated colleges and University TeachingDepartments(GA/G2/2566/1986

dated16.03.1987). RESERVATION

1. Subject to any rules of reservation that the University may make for the purpose, the selection shall be on the basis of merit generally governed by the conditions of agreement relating to the direct payment. For colleges which do not come under the direct payment , the rules of reservation prescribed by the Government from time to time may be followed.

2. Government Colleges: The selection of students shall be governed by the Rules prescribed by the Government from time to time in respect of such admissions.

3.. Aided Colleges : The selection of students for admission in the Colleges under the Direct Payment System will be on the following basis i SC / S T : 20% of the seats shall be reserved for

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to be filled up on merit basis from among the students of Scheduled Castes (15%) and Scheduled Tribes (5%)with interchangeability in the absence of either communities.

The Provisions stipulated in the Government Order No. G.O.(P) 53/ 2000/SCSTDD dated 03.07.2000 and implemented vide University Order No. GAI/A2/3312/1997 dated 26.8.2000 shall be scrupulously followed to fill the vacant reserved seats of SC/ST Communities, by admitting applicants belonging to Other Eligible Communities (OEC).

Out of the 5% reserved for Scheduled Tribes, one percent (1%) or five seats, whichever is higher, are reserved for Primitive Tribes in the districts of Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. In the absence of enough primitive Tribal applicants the specially reserved seats shall be given to other ScheduledTribes(circularNo.GAI/A2/2667/1994. Dated:19.9.94)

ii Management Quota : 20% of the seats for admission will be reserved as

management quota.

iii Community Quot a : 10% of the seats will be reserved for the community to which the college belongs (this will be 20% in the case of colleges belonging to Backward Communities). These seats will be filled upon merit basis from among students of the said community.

iv Open Merit : 50% of the seats will be reserved for admission to open merit.(40% in the case of colleges belonging to backward communities).

4. Unaided College s : 50% of the seats will be filled upon merit in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University. The normal rules of reservation for Backward Classes and Scheduled Caste and Tribes (10% of the Government merit seats are reserved for students from SC/ST communities, with effect from 2004-05 admission- G.O. (MS) No. 14/2005/SC/ST Dev. Department dated 05.04.2005) will apply to these seats. The educational agency will have the freedom to choose the other 50% from a merit list prepared by them, provided that they satisfy the eligibility conditions prescribed by the University.(GAI/A2/ 2533/1996 dated 18-05-1996)

III RESERVATION OF SEATS / ADDITIONAL SEATS

1. Physically Handicapped : Three percent (3%) of the seats for Degree courses (except Geology) should be specifically reserved for the Physically Handicapped candidates. Out of this 3%, 1% is reserved for the blind, 1% for the deaf and 1% for orthopaedically handicapped with a provision for interchange of seats, if candidates are not available in a particular category in a year. 3. Lakshadweep Candidates : One seat each in a UG and PG course in the affiliated Arts and Science Colleges is additionally created and reserved over and above the sanctioned strength, but within the Statutory maximum limit for the native students of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, recommended by the Director of Education, Union Territory of Lakshadweep. In courses where the sanctioned strength and the Statutory limit are the same, the additional seat can be created above the Statutory limit, exclusively for the admission of the above candidates. (U.O.No.GAI/ A2/ 6135/ 1994 Vol. II dated 25.09.2006 and 01.08.2007). These candidates need not be insisted to obtain permission from theUniversity for late registration up to the closing of admission to the respective courses of study (Lr. Dtd.24.09.1997). In Government Colleges where the Government have earmarked seats, the seats reserved for the Ethnic Natives will be in addition to the seats sanctioned by the Government.

If there is no claimant from among the Ethnic Native Scheduled Tribe Candidates from the Union Territory for the seat reserved for them for degree courses, then the seats thus falling vacant due to their absence, will be allotted to the children of the employees belonging to Kerala State who have undergone plus Two education in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.(GA/A2/6135/94 dated 16.3.1998) The admission shall be made only after obtaining prior permission from the University. (GA I/A2/6135/1994 (i) dated 29-08-2000 & GAI/A2/3897/2003 dated 05.06.2003).

ASSESSMENT OF MERIT - FOR DEGREE ADMISSION The Marks obtained in the Plus Two examinations have to be taken in to account and the total index marks are calculated as follows(UO No. GA1/A2/1658/2007 dated 28.02.2008).The merit of the candidate shall be assessed for ranking on the basis of marks obtained by him / her in the qualifying examination for admission to the particular course, subject to such criteria as may be prescribed by the University. For admission to Degree courses, the marks obtained in the Plus Two examination conducted by the State Board of Higher Secondary Examination is taken as the standard.

i) BONUS /WEIGHTAGE MARKS1. Bonus / weightage marks will be added to the total

Marks obtained in the qualifying examination to calculate the index marks and for ranking in the selection list in the case of candidates who already possess the required minimum marks prescribed.

2. A weightage of 15 marks added to the total shall be given in the case of ex-serviceman, widows and children of Jawan and ex-serviceman, and to the widows and children of B.S.F. Personnel killed or disabled in action, for admission to BA /BSc / B.Com courses.

3. Students who have worked in the Illiteracy Eradication Programme on voluntary basis for at least one year will be allowed 15 marks as bonus/weightage for the purpose of ranking.

4. 15 marks shall be awarded as bonus marks to N.S.S / N.C.C cadets subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions, for the purpose of ranking.

a. In respect of NCC applicants the bonus marks will be awarded on the basis of NCC certificates signed by the Director and issued by the Directorate of NCC to the candidates who have secured at least 75% of attendance after having participated in its activities during the course of the study immediately preceding the course for which admission is sought.

b. The basis for awarding bonus marks to NSS participants will be NSS certificate signed by the Director and issued by the Directorate of NSS.

c. The benefit of bonus marks for the purpose of admission can be availed by the candidates only under any one category, either N.S.S or N.C.C.

d. Cadets holding A,B,C certificates are eligible for an additional weightage of 3,5,10 marks respectively for admission to Degree courses, limited to a maximum of 1 point only.

e. The bonus points or additional weightage marks will be given only in the case of those NCC Certificates on the basis of which no grace marks have already been awarded.

5. A bonus / weightage of (10marks)will be given to those who got First place / A grade in the Kerala State Higher Secondary / Vocational Higher Secondary Arts Festivals.

6. 10 marks shall be deducted for every successive attempt after first attempt out of the ranking points to those who have taken two or more chances to complete the qualifying examination, subject to a maximum of 25 marks. The number of chances means the number of chances taken for passing any part or parts of the qualifying examination. Betterment of examination will not be considered as a chance.

The seats under community quota shall be reserved for students of the community to which the college belongs and such seats shall be filled on the basis of merit. In the case of Unaided Colleges and Self Financing programmes conducted in Aided Colleges, 50% of the total seats shall be filled by the management from among candidates of their choice provided they satisfy the eligibility conditions. The remaining seats (50%) shall be distributed and filled as follows:

Those who wish to get admission to the 50% seats under merit in Self Financing programmes in aided colleges shall apply online in CAP. However, those who wish to get admission to the seats in Self Financing Colleges shall apply directly to the colleges concerned. Open quota

For admission to seats coming under merit category students should apply online in CAP. The open quota seats will be filled purely on merit basis irrespective of the category/ community to which the candidate belongs.

CLAIMS FOR MANDATORY RESERVATIONS

Claims for Mandatory Reservations must be made by the candidate in the relevant column of the online

application in CAP. However, the supporting documents shall submit only at the time of admission in the colleges concerned. The claims for mandatory reservation once made in the Application form cannot be altered by the candidate under any circumstances.

Claim for Communal reservation under ‘Socially and Educationally Backward Classes‘(SEBC): Reservation of seats to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes will be in accordance with the provisions contained in G.O.(P) 208/66/Edn. dated 2.5.1966, as amended from time to time. Candidates belonging to Ezhava, Muslim, Other backward Hindus, Latin Catholic other than Anglo Indians and Other backward Christian communities, claiming reservation under SEBC Quota should invariably produce both ‘Community’ and ‘Income Certificates’ obtained from the Village Officer concerned. The attested copy of the above certificates should be attached with the application. Candidates whose annual family income is above the amount stipulated by the Government for this purpose from time to time are not eligible for reservation. The seats unavailed by SEBC category candidates will be allotted under open quota.

Claim for Reservation under Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Quota : Candidates claiming reservation under Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes Quota should obtain caste/community certificate from the Tahsildar. The seats unavailed by the SC candidates will go to ST candidates and vice versa. The seats reserved for SC/ST shall be renotified twice through print media by the colleges concerned. If such seats are remaining vacant after re-notification, the seats shall be filled as detailed below. Government/Aided Colleges Except Colleges run by aided backward minority Communities : The unfilled seats shall be filled up from candidates belonging to OEC and in their absence, candidates belonging to SEBC. The seats that further remain unfilled will go to the open quota.

Aided Colleges run by backward minority communities: The unfilled seats shall be filled on

the basis of the merit as per the rank list from among the applicants of the backward minority community, which runs the college. If seats still remain unfilled, it will be filled up from candidates belonging to OEC and in their absence, candidates belonging to SEBC. The seats that further remain unfilled will go to the open quota.

Claim of OEC candidates against the un-availed seats of SC/ST candidates: Other Eligible Community (OEC) candidates who claim allotment to the un-availed seats, if any, under SC/ST quota should furnish community and income certificates obtained from the Village Officer concerned. Those OEC candidates whose annual family income is up to the amount stipulated by the Govt. for this purpose from time to time alone are eligible for such seats.

Candidates belonging to other eligible communities are exempted from payment of fee at the time of allotment to UG Degree Programmes under Government/Community quota irrespective of annual family income as per G.O (Ms) No.36/07/SCSTDD dated 03.07.2007. They should provide Community Certificate from the Village Officer along with the hard copy of the Application form at the time of admission in the college concerned.
