HOW TO APPLY Applicants wishing to be considered for admission to several Ontario universities should apply to the University of Toronto through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) using the “105” application.

Applicants who are interested in applying ONLY to the University of Toronto, who reside outside of Canada and are not currently studying, nor have previously studied, in Canada may apply using the “University of Toronto International application”.

For more details about application procedures and deadlines, visit our website at future.utoronto.ca/apply/applying.

We encourage you to apply well in advance of the published deadlines. Spaces fill quickly and programs may close before the application deadlines listed below.

The University of Toronto operates on an academic year rather than on a semester or quarter system. Students begin their studies in September and continue until May of the following year. The University of Toronto does not deal with agents and it does not recommend that applicants deal with agents.

DOCUMENT DEADLINESDocument deadlines vary by division. For a complete list of document deadlines visit future.utoronto.ca. We encourage you to submit all required documents well in advance of the posted deadlines. Spaces in programs are filled on an ongoing basis and programs may close before the published document deadlines.

Once we receive your application we will send you an email acknowledgement, including full information about the next steps in the application process.

Student Permit/VisaIf you are not a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you should apply for a study permit and entry visa (depending on citizenship) as soon as you receive your letter of admission from the University. You can obtain applications for these documents from a Canadian embassy or consulate before departing.

To obtain a study permit, international students must demonstrate to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada that they have sufficient resources to cover tuition and expenses for at least one year of university. Complete details can be found at www.cic.gc.ca.

Centre for International ExperienceAdapting to a new cultural environment and a new education system may present some unexpected challenges. The Centre for International Experience is ready to help you with a wide range of services and programs. Visit cie.utoronto.ca.

GuardianshipIf you are an international student under the age of 18, you may be asked by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to find a Canadian citizen to act as a guardian. Your family is responsible for satisfying this requirement.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTSApplicants who have attained a high level of academic achievement and who completely satisfy prerequisites will be considered for admission. The minimum requirements for admission consideration vary by program. You must present all the requirements, including prerequisite courses, to be considered. All of our programs have limited spaces and the admission selection process is competitive. Some programs require a supplementary application; check faculty and program admission information for details. See also: English Language Requirements. For details regarding the admission requirements for each program, visit future.utoronto.ca and refer to the information that matches your academic background.

APPLICATION DEADLINES Early submission of both an application and supporting documents is strongly encouraged. Refer to future.utoronto.ca for detailed information about requirements for your educational jurisdiction.
