Credentials Your four years of UTMM reward you with extra
résumé-worthy bona fides. Simply put, it’s More Ed Cred!
For example, you can graduate with your Business
Degree plus earn UTMM’s Certificate in Eective Business Practices & Leadership Skills. Major bonuses of
this certificate are a 4-month paid work placement
starting in May, and an earned notation on your
transcript. Perhaps even more valuable, you apply your
in-class learning in the workplaces of some of the
country’s biggest brands. Establish useful industry
connections outside the classroom and into the
boardroom. Your work placement integrates seamlessly
into the program. With coaching and support throughout,
you continually conduct focused academic reflections
about the experience as part of your review classes. All
the while, you’re working towards your Poster
presentation summarizing the experience. No additional
years of schooling are required for you to graduate with
this extra certificate. (Small wonder space is limited.) You
apply in second year, work in your final year, then
graduate at the same time as all your friends, only ahead!
Fourth-year students can apply for MGT 480, UTMM’s
popular Internship Course. Another example of More
Ed Cred, MGT 480 structures a credit course around
an unpaid internship. Starting in January, you
work/learn one day each week onsite at a private or
public sector organization. This immersive experience
lets you test and apply your years of in-class learning
while developing practical skills and training.
Participating students receive coaching and support
from UTMM while making valuable contacts off
campus. A fully graded course, the internship includes
three class meetings and concludes with your final
presentation, summarizing all you’ve learned over the
4 months.
Establish useful industry connections outside the
classroom and into the boardroom.

institutional investors, and investment
and consulting firms in Canada.

Focused reflection exercises, an integral part of the
work experience, connect the theory you’ve been
studying and work you’re doing. You work through
modules on your schedule, gradually assemble a
cumulative report and deliver a poster presentation.
Get Career Guidance with coaching and support. These
vital services help you plan your path. Use job search
tools to transition from your studies to your career.
How your work placement fits your schedule. You
attend a virtual info session in early September to
apply for jobs by early October. You interview
internally, then with employers throughout October
and November. Your four-month internship begins in
January. Throughout that period of employment, you
remain in touch regularly: three class meetings and one
more onsite are built into the schedule. Your poster
presentation occurs in late March, just before you
complete your final work hours.
Open to all UTMM students, the Professional Skills Development Program (PSDP) earns a notation on
your transcript by enhancing key skills and increasing
your employability. Learn to build relationships,
research industries, search for jobs, discover and
develop your greatest strengths. With multiple
opportunities, you complement your learning outside
the classroom, building confidence with these skills.
PSDP is especially valued by those looking to explore
and achieve, then graduate ahead.
