This was announced by the Professional Regulation Com-mission (PRC) and the Board of Accountancy. Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay, Jr. and UMak President Tomas Lopez, Jr. have extend-ed their congratulations to Dela Cruz, the other successful UMak CPA passers, and the rest of the CBA led by newly-designated Dean Josephine Rupert, University Secretary and former Dean Elyxzur Ra-mos, and Accountancy and

Financial Management Depart-ment Head Marlo Gile. “You make us proud! Thank you for reconfirming that our innovations work. We have truly become a leading educa-tional institutional, which can stand at par with bigger and better-funded colleges and uni-versities in the country. The City and the University are confident that our new CPAs will continue on to more great-ness, as they inspire the next batch of striving but promising UMak accountants,” said Presi-dent Lopez. Dela Cruz was batch valedicto-rian and top summa cum laude graduate in the recently concluded UMak 42nd Commencement Exercis-

es. Talosig was batch salutato-rian and second place summa cum laude, while Camaso was fifth place summa cum laude in the last Commencement Exer-cises. According to Professor Gile, the three top honor graduates achieved equally outstanding performances at the CPA Re-view School of the Philippines (CPAR), with Dela Cruz finish-ing second place nationwide, Talosig in third nationwide, and Camaso in seventh nation-wide. All 14 new UMak CPAs are graduates of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. This is, by far, the strongest CPA board exam finish of UMak raising hopes for an even stronger finish in the next

round of October 2015 ex-am. Dela Cruz is the lone top notcher from a local university and from a public school, car-rying out the “fighting” and “winning” stance of his vale-dictory address. Eunice Millicent Ong Li from Chiang Kai Shek College topped the examination, while Shaun Anthony Tiu Go from University of San Carlos land-ed in second place. Tied in third place are Jaecelle Marg-rett Go Dy also from Universi-ty of Carlos and Sharmaine Fernandez Sy from De La Salle University-Manila. University of San Carlos was the school topnotcher with an 88.06% passing rate and five of its graduates in the top ten.

FIGHTERS AND WINNERS. Top 5 CPA board topnotcher, CPAR nationwide second placer, UMak Batch 2015 valedictorian and summa cum laude Kristofferson Dela Cruz (left) is shown during the commence-ment exercises last month in his memorable address to the CBA graduates: “We might not have the form of a Green Archer or a Blue Eagle, but we do have the substance of a fighter. We have the substance of a winner!”; New CPA, CPAR nationwide third placer, UMak Batch 2015 salutatorian and summa cum laude Karl Talosig (right) leads the graduates in their Pledge of Loyalty.
