CARA LaPLACAHEAD COACH /// 10TH SEASON

2015 A-10 COACH OF THE YEAR

Cara LaPlaca, in her 10th season as UD’s head coach, has implemented a hard-working, successful culture of excellence within the University of Dayton Softball program.

2016 marked another first in Dayton softball history: with a record of 27-21-1 the Flyers had back-to-back seasons with a record above the .500 mark for the first time in program history. During the season, LaPlaca passed the 200-win threshold while at UD (now at 225 wins), and moved into first among Flyer coaches in career winning percentage (.463).

Dayton returned to the A-10 Championship for the fourth-straight time in 2016, its

eighth overall and fifth appearance in the last six years. The Flyers won one game before being bounced by eventual champion Fordham in a 12-inning, 1-0 game. Manda Cash was named to the All-Championship team for the second-straight season.

The Flyers received high honors in both the Atlantic 10 and Mid-Atlantic region, as Cash earned A-10 Pitcher of the Year as well as a spot on First Team Atlantic 10. The sophomore also made NFCA All-Region First Team. Joining her as a first team member of both the A-10 and Mid-Atlantic region was junior Gabby Snyder. The two anchored a pitching staff that finished seventh in the country in ERA.
