counter/Government Treasuries/Designated Branches of SBT/Janasevankendra OR Demand

Draft (only in the case of out of State candidates) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer,

University of Calicut payable at SBT Calicut University Branch and (ii) attested copies of

certificates as proof of qualifications, age and community should be forwarded to the Head of

the Department/Co-ordinator/Director as the case may be as mentioned in the 6th column of

the Notification so as to reach on or before 5 P.M on 04.07.2012.

3) The online Registration I.D.No. should be written by the candidate on reverse side of the

chalan receipt/DD as the case may be. This I.D.No should also be mentioned by the

candidate in all future communications.

4) Those who are awaiting the results of the qualifying examination can also apply. They have

to submit the copies of Marklist to the Head/Director/ Co-ordinator, as the case may be,

within 6 days of the publication of Calicut University/Government Examination Results in

order to finalise the Rank list in stipulated time.

5) The Heads/Directors/Co-ordinators are authorized to conduct Entrance Examination and

admission as per rules and allot students to affiliated colleges by 20.08.2012.

6) Allotment to the affiliated colleges will be made to fill the merit seat (50% of the total intake).

7) Candidates of UG programmes of this University under CCSS UG – 2009 admissions awaiting

results can also apply. The eligibility of such candidates (those passed out under grading

pattern (Choice Based Credit Semester System – UG) will be issued later. Such students have

to comply with the eligibility criteria fixed accordingly for admission to various courses.

Appendix-I

Norms and Regulations related to Bachelor of Education Degree in Special Education (Hearing Impaired):-

1. Eligibility for Admission

1.1 Candidates should have passed the B.A/B.Sc degree examination under the 10+2+3 pattern with

one main subject and two Subsidiary subjects from any of the Universities in Kerala or of any

University recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto for admission

subject to the stipulation regarding marks. However, double and triple main candidates of Kerala

University and other Universities will be considered for admission only if they furnish the copies of

the eligibility certificate form any of the University in Kerala along with application stating that

their qualifying examination is recognized for seeking admission to B.Ed. Special Education

(Hearing Impaired) degree course.

1.2 a. Minimum marks for B.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impaired)

admission is 50% for the science subjects and 45% for the arts

subjects in part III.

OR

b. A minimum of 50% marks for Part I English of B.A/B.Sc degree examination for English optional.

They should also possess a Master’s degree in English with not less than 50% marks.

c. Applicants should have secured 45% marks in aggregate (I+II+III)

1.3 Scheduled caste/Scheduled tribe candidates with pass graduation and post graduation in the

respective optional subjects are eligible for admission

1.4 Socially and Educationally Backward Community (SEBC) candidates will be given 3% concession for

Part III/Part I English, Part II and PG.

1.5 OEC candidates will be given 5% concession for Part III/Part I English, Part II and PG.

1.6 a. BA degree with English Language and Literature/Functional English with 45% marks for Part

III OR BA/B.Sc with 50% marks for part I English and not less than 50% marks for masters

degree in English Language and Literature.

b. BA degree with Malayalam language with literature with 45% marks for part III OR BA/B.Sc with

50% marks for part II Malayalam and not less than 50% marks for MA Malayalam Language

and Literature.

c. B.Sc degree with Mathematics or Statistics or applied statistics main with 50% marks, for part

III. Candidates with statistics/applied statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the

subjects.

d. B.Sc degree with Physics/Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/B.Sc Geology/

B.Sc Petro Chemicals/B.Sc Bio-Chemistry main with 50% marks for part III.

e. B.Sc degree with Botany/Zoology/B.Sc Bio-chemistry/B.Sc Plant Science/Aquaculture with Bio-

Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries with 50% marks for part III.

f. BA degree with History/Arabic and Islamic History main with 45% marks for part III or BA degree

with Geography/Politics/Economics/Sociology/Psychology/Philosophy under part III (45% marks).

g. Bachelor degree with Geography as main subject under part III with 45% marks.

h. Candidates who have secured M.Com degree with not less than 45% marks alone are eligible

for admission.

i. Home Science candidates, who have secured M.Sc degree in Home Science with not less than

45% alone are eligible for admission to the B.Ed course in Home Science, such candidates are

not eligible for admission to any other B.Ed course.

j. MCA/M.Sc Computer Science/M.Sc Electronics with a minimum of 45% marks.

2. Selection and Indexing for admission to B.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impaired):

Marks obtained by the candidates at the degree examination will be converted into

percentage score in this index score additional weightage may be given as follows.

2.1 For PG degree:

MA/M.Sc – I class 5 points

MA/M.Sc – II class 3 points

MA/M.Sc – III class 2 points

Final year regular Bachelor’s Degree students are also permitted to appear for the Entrance Examination subject to the

condition that the entire mark lists of all parts of the qualifying examination shall be produced by the candidate at the time of

allotment.

1. The seats not availed by the SC candidates will go to the ST candidates and vice versa

2. The seats not availed by the SC/ST candidates will be filled from OEC category.

Quota for Physically Handicapped.

3% of the total seats available are reserved for candidates with physical disabilities. ‘Person with disability’ means a

person suffering from not less than 40% of any disability as certified by a medical authority. Generally, candidates who have a

minimum of 40% disability alone will be eligible to apply for this quota. A disability certificate from the District Medical Board

obtained within 12 months from the date of submission of application and a certificate obtained from a Medical Officer not

below the rank of Assistant Surgeon to the effect that the candidate is fit enough to undergo the M.C.A. Course are to be

produced at the time of counselling.

Quota for OBC

Candidates claiming OBC reservation should produce both Income Certificate and Community Certificate obtained from

the Village Officer / Tehsildar at the time of counselling. Only non- creamy layer candidates will be considered for this quota.

Quota for SC/ ST

For claiming reservation under SC/ST quota, candidates should produce the Community Certificate issued by the

Tehsildar in original at the time of counselling. Lakshadweep candidates should produce Nativity Certificate issued by

Lakshadweep administration.

The seats not availed under this category will go to non creamy layer OEC candidates.

Quota for BPL Forward Class

BPL candidates who belong to communities, which do not have any communal reservation, are eligible for this quota.

Community Certificate from Revenue authorities and BPL certificate from the Local Self Government Institution should be

produced at the time of counselling for availing the reservation under this category.

Transfer.

The transfer from one Centre to another on higher option after the counselling will be made strictly on the basis of the

rank secured by the candidate in the entrance examination.

Procedure for online application.

1. Candidates can apply for the Entrance Examination online through the website www.universityofcalicut.info.

2. The candidates should remit application fee of `300/- (Rupees three hundred only) by Demand Draft (no other mode of

remittance is accepted) drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Calicut payable at State Bank of

Tranvancore, Calicut University branch.

3. Log on to www.universityofcalic`ut.info, click the link for online application and upload a recent photograph (150 pixles

width X 200 pixles height) as directed. Fill in all the columns in the application form and submit. After submission take

a printout of the filled in application and note the online registration number automatically generated by the system. This

online registration number is necessary for downloading hall ticket later.

4. The print out of the filled in application along with Demand Draft is to be submitted by hand or by ordinary post only.

Write ‘Application for MCA entrance Examination 2012’ on the left hand top of the envelope.

5. The application should reach

Online application without the submission of printout and DD within the stipulated date will not be considered for

entrance examination under any circumstance.

Entrance Examination

The examination will be of 2 hours duration and will have 100 objective type questions of 1 mark each from the disciplines as

noted below.

Applicants can download their hall ticket from the website www.universityofcalicut.info using their online registration

number.

Applicants should invariably bring the hall ticket while appearing for the examination.

The Question Booklet issued to candidates should be returned along with the Answer Sheet to the Invigilator on

completion of the Examination.

Rank list and Counselling.

Rank list will be prepared on the basis of total marks secured by the candidates in the entrance examination and will be

published in the University website www.universityofcalicut.info along with schedule for counselling. Centralized counselling

for admission will be held in Calicut University Campus. No intimation will be sent to individuals for the

counselling/admission. Candidates are advised to visit the University website frequently or to go through the University press

release in the leading dailies. Allotment of seats on each category will be purely based on the rank secured by the candidates.

The candidates, who secure a higher rank, will be given priority to select the Centre of their preference.

The candidates should bring the following documents while appearing for centralized counselling.

1. Hall ticket of the Entrance Examination

2. SSLC or any equivalent school certificate to prove date of birth.

3. Transfer and Conduct Certificate.

4. Original Mark lists of all parts, Provisional Degree / Degree Certificate and Equivalency Certificate (in the case of

candidates from Universities outside Kerala) of the Qualifying Exam with photocopies of the same.

5. Income Certificate/Community Certificate/Non-Creamy layer Certificate/Nativity Certificate/Disability Certificate as

applicable for claiming reservation.

6. Any other document mentioned in the Notification / Prospectus.

7. Two Passport size photographs.

An authorized representative can appear for the counselling on behalf of those candidates who cannot appear in person under

inevitable circumstances. The representative should bring an authorization letter as given in annexure I while appearing for the

counselling.

General1. Applications received incomplete, delayed and/or without DD for Rs.300/- will be rejected without notice.

2. Enquiry regarding the receipt of application will not be entertained.

3. Fees mentioned in the Prospectus are subject to revision.

4. University has the right to make changes in the examination schedule notified.

ADMISSION FOR MPEd (REGULAR) 4 SEMESTER COURSE 2012-13

NOTIFICATION

Applications are invited for the admission to MPEd (Master of Physical Education) regular (4 semester) course for the academic year 2012-13.

Nature of the course

The course shall be full time (regular) and shall be conducted by the Department of Physical Education, University of Calicut.

Conditions and guidelines

1) Duration of the course

The duration of the MPEd course shall be two academic years with four semesters.

2) Eligibility for admission

a. The minimum educational qualification for admission to the MPEd (Regular) course shall be a pass in the three year BPE or one year BPEd of this University or any other University duly recognized by the University of Calicut and the minimum sports achievements should be a second place in the Inter Collegiate or Inter district competitions (AIU recognized sports) conducted by the Universities in Kerala or recognized sports associations approved by the Kerala Sports Council.

b. Age limit The upper age limit for the admission to the MPEd course shall be 25 years as on the 1st July of the year of admission. Relaxation upto 5 years in age shall be given to those candidates who have participated in Inter University Tournaments or National level tournaments or in service candidates (Physical Education teachers) with minimum of 3 years experience and deputed by the appointing authority and SC/ST candidates.

3) Reservation Seats are reserved for SC, ST, Muslim, ETB, LC/SIUC, OBH and BPL (forward caste) categories as per the reservation principles of Government of Kerala as adopted by the University.

Ethnic native candidates from the Union Territory of Lakshadweep are considered as Scheduled Tribe candidates for the purpose of admission to the courses offered by the University in the Teaching Departments.

4) Admission criteria

Admission Test 100 marksi. Physical Fitness Test 15 marks

ii. Written Test 50 marks(BPE, BPEd syllabus)

iii. Sports proficiency Test 25 marks(in one major sports discipline)

iv. Sports achievements 10 marks (maximum)

Personal kitEvery student at the time of joining and throughout the course of study should have the following personal kit.

a) Canvas shoes, football boot, T shirt, Shorts, Spikes etc.b) Playing equipments like Badminton Racket, Tennis Racket, Hockey stick etcc) White pants, White full sleeve shirt, black shoes for men and white saree & shirt

blouse for women.

Rank list for admission

The rank list will be published immediately after the selection trials and the candidates selected should join the course immediately by paying the prescribed fees and submit the original certificates of SSLC (to prove age), qualifying certificate, T.C and conduct certificate (from the institution last studied). Employed candidate should submit No Objection Certificate from the employer.

Seats falling vacant on account of non payment of fees/dues within the prescribed period, on disqualification or those vacated by candidates themselves will be filled from the waiting list in the order of merit according to University rules and regulations.

How to apply

Candidates should submit the application online through the website www.universityofcalicut.info (read the prospectus thoroughly before applying online).

Candidates should take a print out of the online application after submission. The signed copy of the print out along with DD/challan for Rs.300/- (Rupees Three hundred only) (for SC/ST Rs.100/- only) remitted under Calicut University Fund (CUF)/(Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Calicut payable at State Bank of Travancore, Calicut University branch), attested copies

of SSLC (to prove age), BPE/BPEd mark lists, Degree certificates, Equivalence certificate, Community/Non creamy layer/BP (forward caste), Service certificate (form IV) should reach the office of the DEPUTY DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, CALICUT UNIVERISTY CAMPUS, CALICUT UNIVERSITY P.O, MALAPPURAM DIST, KERALA 673 635 on or before the last date notified by the University. Application fee once remitted will not be refunded in any case and fee paid in other modes of payment will not be accepted.
