- It can server as a tool for homeless people.  It can be used in earthquake or other disaster relief, in situations where gas/electricity is not available to pasteurize water and cook food.

- It includes roll-up reflector, clips, pin, two aluminum funnels and a plastic sheet to provide structurally sound, easily set up, light-weight reflector with the proper conical focus angle.

Factors Effect The Solar Cooker

- Cone-shaped (roll-up) reflector, made of 85-90 % reflective aluminum coated plastic.

- Glass light fixture or jam jar, placed over the can contains the heat. Aluminum beverage can with lid, painted black is the “cooking pot”. Disk to horizontally support the glass enclosed container.

Food drying is an excellent solar energy application since food drying primarily requires heat, and solar radiation is easily converted to heat. A clear or translucent glazing allows sunlight to enter an enclosed chamber where it is converted to heat when it strikes a dark interior surface. Airflow is typically achieved with natural convection (warm air rises). Adjustable venting allows regulation of airflow and temperature.

TEMPERATURE IN SOLAR DEHYDRATORMost foods are dehydrated at temperatures of 130°F, or 54°C, although meats being made into jerky should be dehydrated at a higher temperature of 155°F, or 68°C, or preheated to those temperature levels, to guard against pathogens that may be in the meat.

SOLAR OVEN

- A reflective mirror of polished glass, metal or metalized film concentrates light and heat from the sun on a small cooking area, making the energy more concentrated and increasing its heating power.

- A black or low reflectivity surface on a food container or the inside of a solar cooker improves the effectiveness of turning light into heat.

- Light absorption converts the sun’s visible light into heat, substantially improving the effectiveness of the cooker.

- A plastic bag or tightly sealed glass cover traps the hot air inside. - Glass transmits visible light but blocks infrared thermal radiation from

escaping. This amplifies the heat trapping effect.

Temperature in Solar Oven These cookers can typically reach temperatures of 300° F (150° C) which is plenty hot to cook any food you would like. Food containing larger quantities of moisture cannot get much hotter than 212° F (100° C) so it is not necessary to cook at higher temperatures.

- At least 20% cows and buffaloes in Pakistan produce unwholesome milk because of mastitis (inflammation or swelling of udder). Most of the diseased animals are affected by sub-clinical or hidden form of mastitis

- Milk of mastitis affected animal contains higher than normal number (200,000/ml) of white blood cells (pus cells).

- Increased number of white blood cells in milk can be detected by mixing milk with 3% solution of Surf Excel (Muhammad et al., 2010, Tropical Animal Health and Production, 42: 457-464) in equal proportion (Surf Field Mastitis Test; SFMT).

- To control the scourge of mastitis, several candidate mastitis vaccines investigated at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.

- The most promising results in mastitis control obtained with a vaccine incorporating a biofilm producing local isolate of Staphylococcus aureus.

- Both SFMTkit and mastitis vaccine (MastipepTM) now commercially available as an output of an agreement inked between Business Incubation Center, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and UM Enterprises, Karachi.
