DEGREE PLUSOur Degree Plus scheme allows you to identify and hone the skills and

attributes needed for your future career. A big part of that is the HEAR (see

below) but we also offer the opportunity to develop your employability and

community skills, improve your English and Maths (if needed) and work

towards a recognised B&FC award.

THE HEARThe HEAR (short for Higher Education Achievement Report) is an electronic

record of all your achievements at B&FC.* It’s a great way to show

potential employers what you’ve got to offer that’s different to everyone

else. It also helps you become more self-aware and focus on getting the

most out of your time here.

STUDENTS’ UNIONThrough our Students’ Union you can access an exciting range of clubs

and societies and play an active part in student life. For sports and fitness

we have a sports hall, gym and all-weather 3G pitch, along with various

BENEFITSYou’ll be earning a full-time wage and gaining workplace experience

to help you fast-track your career. You’ll work towards a higher level

qualification with access to the same support as our other degree-level

students, but without paying any fees.

WHO DOES THEM?These qualifications are equally suited to young people who want to start

their career straight away as they are to more established employees who

want to progress. You need to have a suitable position before you can

start but we can support you in this.

WHY B&FC?We co-created our first higher apprenticeship – in project management

– in 2008 with BAE Systems. It’s now nationally accredited by the

Association for Project Management and embedded within blue-chip

organisations such as Rolls-Royce.

90% of apprentices

stay employed after completing an

A NEW AGEIn recent years, millions of pounds have been spent transforming Blackpool

into a high-class 21st Century resort. The result is a stylish Victorian/

contemporary fusion, with vastly improved infrastructure, leisure, business

and retail facilities. For graduates of all disciplines, the local employment

opportunities are excellent.

EMBRACE YOUR INNER CHILDIf you’re still not convinced, pay us a visit and prepare to fall in love

with the Illuminations, Tower Circus/Eye/Dungeon, Madame Tussauds,

much more. Because let’s face it, everyone’s really just a child at heart.

t’s a fact that graduates can earn significantly

more than non-graduates. And with a tuition fee

loan, the monthly repayments are so low relative to what

you’ll be earning (eg if you earn £25,000 your repay

just £30 a month) it really can pay off to do a degree.

1Applies to the 2018/19 academic year and may be subject to change in

subsequent years. | 2Based on students who are from England and studying

full-time for their first higher education course. If you’re a part-time student

earning more than £21,000 a year, you start repaying your loan in the April

four years after starting your course. 3Eligibility applies – for full details go to

COMPETITIVE FEESAt £7,9251 a year, our tuition fees offer great value for money. With a tuition

fee loan, you don’t need to pay anything upfront and your repayments only

start once you’re earning over £21,000 a year2.

HELP WITH THE COST OF STUDYYou might be eligible for our Advantage Bursary3 (worth up to £500), a

maintenance loan, the Parents’ Learning Allowance or the Adult Dependants’

Grant. We also offer an Access Scholarship of £1,000 per year for care

leavers, young carers and students who are estranged from their families.

STRETCH YOUR BUDGET FURTHERFor full-time students not already embarked on their career, the challenge

is to keep study and living costs to a minimum. Fortunately, living costs

in Blackpool are relatively low and there are plenty of part-time work

opportunities available.

Invest in your

future because that is where

you are going to spend therest of your life.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSAt B&FC, we recognise that everyone has different skills and

abilities. That’s why we award places based as much on relevant

work/voluntary experience as we do on formal qualifications.

We’re highly inclusive and if we’re confident you have what it

takes to succeed we will make you an offer.

We also offer a one-year Access to Higher Education programme

to prepare you for degree-level study – find out more at

blackpool.ac.uk/access-to-he

For each subject area that follows, we’ve included the UCAS

tariff points needed and what these equate to for both BTECs and

A-levels. If you have other qualifications, you can use the tariff

tables at ucas.com to work out what these add up to.

Some courses have specific entry requirements not listed

here so when you find a course you like please check the

full entry requirements online. You may need to have GCSE

English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications) at grade

C/4, for example.

Most of our honours programmes incorporate a two-year

foundation degree followed by a final (honours) top-

up year. You can enrol on a foundation degree without

committing to doing the top-up year but if you do decide you

want to do it you will need to achieve a pass in the relevant

foundation degree.

fees and other costs along with course structure and content,
