1. Promotion of the DBBT master studies

It is worth noting that promotional activities aimed at introducing the DBBT Master studies (MS) and DBBT project as a whole were partly performed at the time when DBBT MS were in the process of licensing and accreditation. Therefore, promotional activities during that period of time were carefully selected, with certain amount of constraints. However, in order to promote new MS, consortium members from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have performed a wide range of activities.

The principal aim of the activities was twofold. Firstly, the main intent of the activities was to provide sufficient information on newly established MS, their content, organisation, curricula, international support, etc. Secondly, activities were taken in order to raise awareness about necessity of having well educated experts in the field of DBBT and multimedia engineering.

Different consortium members took different approach to design and preparation of promotional materials and activities. Printed materials were mostly designed as informational leaflets which provide the most important information about the DBBT MS. Some of the promotion materials/products are given on the Fig. 1. to Fig. 3. Further, basic information on organisation of the MS were published in official gazettes, as well as information about the terms of enrolment of students.

All educational institutions have provided detailed information about DBBT MS and enrolment of new students on their web sites. Information was updated as enrolment process progressed.

Some consortium members have disseminated information on new MS on local radio and TV stations, as well as on social networks.

Furthermore, some educational institutions have organised workshops on the education in the field of DBBT. Workshops have covered a variety of topics, such as awareness raising, legal framework for DBBT, needs of labour market, organisation of MS, structure of MS, etc.

1.1. University of Priština in Kosovska Mitrovica (UPKM) – promotion activities

University of Priština (Kosovska Mitrovica), among other promotional activities, has organised info days, during the September 2017. As a support to the event, UPKM has prepared printed material, leaflet, as shown at the Figure 1. Information on new master studies, as well as on enrolment in the master studies was provided on the university web site, social networks and local media.

Also, UPKM has produced additional printed promotional material in order to raise awareness about the new DBBT master studies, as well as to provide complete information on new master studies, as shown on Figure 2 and Figure 3.

1.2. University of Singidunum (SINGI) – promotion activities

Singidunum University has organised promotional event at the Emisiona tehnika, a public company. Further, the Singidunum Univesity has placed information on the new master studies, together with enrolment data, on its web site, social networks, as well via promotional items and printed materials, as shown on the Figure 4.

1.3. University of Banja Luka (UBL) – promotion activities

New master studies have been presented to professionals, academic staff, students and general public in the November 2016, during the International Symposium INDEL. Also, in April 2018, during regular project meeting in Banja Luka, students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Banja Luka had the opportunity to acquaint themselves about the DBBT master studies on partner HEI, as well as detailed information about DBBT MS at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Banja Luka, Figure 5.

Also, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (UBL) has made agreements on cooperation with companies/institutions which operate in the field of DBBT e.g. the Regulatory Agency for Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina, telecom operator Mtel a.d. Banja Luka and the RT-RK Institute.

Here also, the DBBT study program is presented as a licensed study program, i.e. study program that has obtained initial/first accreditation in the Republic of Srpska.

4. The DBBT project Web site

- https://dbbt.pr.ac.rs/course-lists/ provides information about the project and gives the course list for the DBBT study program.

Enrolment to public universities in the Republic of Srpska is announced on University and Faculty web sites, daily newspapers, electronic editions as well as printed. Public invitation for enrolment of students, in the school year 2017/18, was announced three times, in June, August and September 2017. The enrolment was performed according the regulations of the Government of Republic of Srpska about the number of full-time and part-time students enrolled in the school year 2017/18.

Each time invitation was published in local media, newspapers, TV stations, and on the Web.

Similar was done for the preparation of the enrolment of students in school year 2018/19. Public invitation for enrolment of students, in school year 2018/19, was announced three times, in June, August and September 2018. The enrolment was performed according the regulations of the Government of Republic of Srpska about the number of full-time and part-time students enrolled in the school year 2018/19.

1.4. University of Bihać (UNBI) – promotion activities

University of Bihać has organised promotional event during the project meeting in Bihać, July 2018. Further, University of Bihać has placed information on the new master studies, together with enrolment data, on its web site and social networks. Also, appropriate information was directly communicated to the companies which operate in the field of DBBT, and have seat in the Bihać region.

2. Enrolment

Enrolment of students to master academic and vocational studies was performed according to the recommendations and documents established within this project, local legislations, master study accreditation and licensing documents, and relevant rules of study. In order to gather data regarding the enrolment of students the following questionnaire was designed:

3. Summary

Summary of the enrolment on the DBBT academic master studies is given in the following tables. Total number of enrolled students on master academic studies, within two school years, is 26. Qualification exams were omitted from the enrolment procedures according to the internal regulations of corresponding HEIs, i.e. qualification exam is not mandatory for enrolment to master studies.

Three HEIs have ensured government support to students, i.e. their scholarships are paid by government. Furthermore, some companies, e.g. M:tel a.d. Banja Luka, have provided scholarships for a certain number of students, mostly their employees. Contracts between HEIs and business partners operating in the field of DBBT have been signed, thus the education of DBBT experts/masters has a formal, firm ground.

DBBT master studies have been established as a regular master studies in the sense that they have their place in the annual plan of academic master studies in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. University of Banja Luka and University of Bihać have not enrolled second generation of the DBBT master studies, mainly due to lack of candidates, which is a consequence of unfavourable social environment and delays at the state level regarding the implementation of digital broadcasting technologies.

Each HEI has promoted new master studies and has provided accurate and timely information on the enrolment to DBBT master studies. Information has been published and made public on web sites, social networks, local media, meetings and workshops, printed material/leaflets, promotional items, such as pencils, memory sticks, umbrellas, etc. HEIs from Bosnia and Herzegovina have experienced significant delay in availability of financial support for procurement of goods and services. This is mainly due to the very long (over one year) administrative procedure for acquisition of VAT and customs exemption certificates.
