Guidelines regarding the originality check for the graduation thesis at undergraduate and master level at the West University of Timișoara

1. At the West University of Timișoara, the undergraduate studies finish with the

graduation thesis. 2. At the West University of Timișoara, the master studies finish with the dissertation

thesis. 3. The elaboration of the graduation thesis represents the final stage of the first study

cycle, while the dissertation thesis represents the final stage of the master studies. 4. The graduation thesis takes place according to the provisions of the Law of National

Education no. 1/2001, of Law 288/2004 regarding the right of graduates of private higher education institutions to present their graduation theses within accredited higher education institutions, of Order of the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research no. 3098/2016 regarding the Methodology Framework for the organisation of the graduation thesis.

5. Enrollment for the graduation/dissertation thesis is contingent upon the choice of the topic of the graduation/dissertation thesis by the student, out of the topics proposed by the thesis coordinator at least 7 months before the presentation of the graduation/dissertation thesis. The topics of the graduation/dissertation thesis will be posted on the faculty website.

6. (a) The student must: ‐ log in to the UVT e‐learning platform (http://elearning.e‐uvt.ro/), using the e‐uvt account user and password; ‐ send the request for the coordination of the graduation thesis to the coordinator, using the e‐learning platform (using the adequate form – Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4); To see the list of coordinators for their study programme the student must access (click on) the button Enrollment for the graduation/dissertation thesis (Figure 1a), visible on the first page of the platform after logging in (My page). The coordinator will be chosen from the list which will appear after clicking on the button Enrollment for the graduation/dissertation thesis (Figure 1b); if the coordinator is not on the list, he will notify the professor about this aspect.

(b) The thesis coordinator must validate on the e‐learning platform until December 21, 2017, at the latest, the coordination request of the students for which he has given the written approval. The validation of the request is done in the following way:

‐ The professor receives on the e‐uvt address (from support.platforma@e‐uvt.ro ‐ name Admin User) the request for coordination sent by the student via the e‐learning platform (Figure 5 and Figure 6);






‐ The professor will access the link (Accept/Reject the enrollment of the student) present at the end of the email, will tick the name of the student and choose Confirm (Figure 7 and Figure 8). Now, the student is enrolled in the section for the coordination of the graduation/dissertation thesis.

1. The scientific coordinator of the graduation/dissertation thesis has the following attributions:

Coordinates the elaboration by the student of the thesis plan; Advises the student via the e‐learning platform (Figure 10) and by face to face meetings; Makes sure that the student has uploaded the thesis in the section dedicated to the

coordination (Figure 10), as well as in the section dedicated to the originality check (Figure 10), and the student will gain access to the Similarity report available on the platform after the originality check;

Makes sure that the student has uploaded the thesis with the final approved content, in the final sub‐section for the originality check (Figure 10), this upload being possible only once; after the student has received the approval of the coordinator both regarding the content and the similarity report, the student will be able to upload the paper in the final sub‐section for the originality check. The approval is given by the coordinator in the subsection Admitted/Rejected (Figure 10); if the sub‐section admitted/rejected (Figure 10) is not completed by the professor for a student who was Admitted (Figure 11a, Figure 11b), then the student will not be able to upload the thesis in the final variant in the final section for the originality check.

Assesses the quality of the content and the originality of the paper and makes observations and suggestions via the e‐learning platform as well as during face to face meetings;

Analyzes the entire content and the final shape of the thesis, by writing an evaluation report based on the final variant of the paper and the Similarity report delivered by the platform;

The report will contain an assessment of the content of the paper; If the student does not receive the report and the approval of the professor, the paper

cannot be presented in front of the examination committee. 2. The graduation/dissertation thesis must have original content. If plagiarism is observed or if

the student forges the quality as an author by buying/trading the paper, the graduate will not be allowed to present the graduation thesis.

3. The scientific coordinator of the graduation/dissertation thesis is responsible for ensuring, together with its authors, the originality of the content of the thesis.

4. All the approved and presented graduation/dissertation theses will be included in the platform library in order to check the originality of theses from the following years.

5. It is prohibited to merchandise scientific papers for facilitating the forging of the quality of author by the student of a graduation/dissertation thesis.
