Technology & Innovations

SMARTLoad Screw Delivery Field

• The new screw field design features a recessed screw hole that facilitates easy loading of the screw by guiding the tip of the screwdriver blade accurately into the head of the screw.

• In addition, recessed screw holes decrease the amount of screw spillage that can occur when loading.

• Customizable screw markers allow for maximum storage of popular screw sizes and designs.

SMARTLockTM Self-Locking Screws

SmartLockTM is cutting edge technology designed as a one step system that achieves secure “locking” fixation of the screw to the plate. SmartLockTM

offers unique advantages including:

• Locking capability with up to 10˚ of angulation• 2.0mm or 2.3mm screw placement in a single plate• One step locking screw• Low profile Cross-Pin head design• Single locking screw design for both fracture and

reconstruction applications• Made from high strength titanium alloy• Plates do not require the use of bending inserts• Color coded Grey

SmartLockTM screws are manufactured with fine threads on the underside of thescrew head, which upon insertion engage the circular “lip” within the hole. This enables the SmartLockTM construct (both plate/screw) to function as an internal, external fixator. Unlike other systems on the market, this unique “lip”design allows for up to 10˚ of angulation of the screw while still maintaining full locking capabilities.

Universal Reconstruction System: OverviewThe Leibinger Universal Reconstruction System represents the next generation of bone fixation that offers maximum flexibility and cutting edge technology.

Step 1- Expose fracture(s). Step 2- Use benders tocontour Fracture Plate.Benders include platepockets to reduce holedeformation.

Step 3- Cut Fracture Platewith the right handle (R)in the area labeled "CUT.”Slide the plate through thecutter from left to right.Cut will take place withinthe window.

Step 4- Insert the drillguide through trocar and drill hole.

Step 5- Measure desiredscrew length using adepth gauge.

Step 6- Insert screw and repeat process foreach screw until fracturefixation is complete.

ProceduralGuide

Step 1- Expose defect and selectappropriate template.Recommended screw placementfor each segment includes:Neutral Bone Screws• 4ea- 2.0mm• 4ea- 2.3mm SMARTLock Screws• 3ea- 2.0mm• 3ea- 2.3mm

Step 2- Cut PrimaryReconstruction Plate withthe right handle (R) in thearea labeled "CUT.” Slide theplate through the cutter fromleft to right. Cut will takeplace within the window.

Step 3- Contour PrimaryReconstruction Plate tomatch template using benders. Benders includeplate pockets to reduce hole deformation.

Step 4- Insert drill guide through trocar and drill hole.

Step 5- Measure desiredscrew length using adepth gauge.

Step 6- Once plate is inplace, remove screws andplate. After mandibularresection, replace “pre-bent” plate and screws.Recommend using temporary recon screw holder.

Step 1- Expose defect and selectappropriate template.Recommended screw placementfor each segment:Neutral Bone Screws• 4ea- 2.3mmSMARTLock Screws• 3ea- 2.3mm2.0mm screws are recommended for bone graft fixation only

Step 2a- To cut, lock plate in lefthandle (L) labeled "CUT.” Placecutting mechanism in right handle(R) flush alongside the plate recessin the left handle. Slide (R) handleup until plate is seated within locking mechanism.Step 2b- Once plate is fully seatedin the cutting mechanism, rotatecounterclockwise to shear plate.

Step 3a- Contour Recon-struction Plate to match template using benders.Benders include plate pocketsto reduce the amount of holedeformation.Step 3b- Roller benders can be used for out-of-planebending.

Step 4- Insert drillguide through trocarand drill hole.

Step 5- Measuredesired screw lengthusing a depth gauge.

Step 6- Once plate is inplace, remove screws andplate. After mandibularresection, replace “pre-bent” plate and screws.Recommend using temporary recon screw holder.
