Because of generous donors, UnityPoint Hospice provides free bereavement services to ensure everyone can receive the grief support they may need.

Annual Memorial ServiceEvery year, UnityPoint Hospice sets aside a special time for grievers in our community to remember loved ones who have passed away and embrace the memories and lives of those we have lost.

The Grief JourneyThe Grief Journey is an eight-week support group for adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This group provides curriculum-based education about the grief process in a safe setting surrounded by others who are experiencing grief. All materials are provided to attendees.

The group meets at UnityPoint Hospice, 290 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE in Cedar Rapids.

Registration is requested one week prior to the beginning of the session by calling 319/369-7744.

Winter Session: Saturday, Jan. 4 • 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Spring Session: Thursday, April 10 • 5:30 - 7 p.m.

Summer Session: Tuesday, July 8 • 5:30 - 7 p.m.

Fall Session: Tuesday, Oct. 7 • 9:30 - 11 a.m.

Camp Embracing MemoriesCamp Embracing Memories is a unique overnight camp for children ages seven through 16. UnityPoint Hospice is excited to o� er this free children’s grief camp for a fourth year. The only camp of its kind in eastern Iowa, Camp Embracing Memories is designed to help children and families e� ectively cope with the death of a loved one or friend in a safe, accepting environment.

Supportive CallsSpecially trained UnityPoint Hospice volunteers call periodically to provide telephone support to those who have lost a loved one.

Educational MailingsMailings are provided on a variety of bereave-ment subjects, including helpful activities that bring comfort, the necessary “tasks” of the grieving process, knowing your support system, reframing anger, caring for yourself and more.

One-on-One VisitsThe UnityPoint Hospice bereavement team is available to provide one-on-one support visits. Both licensed social workers and specially trained volunteers are available to provide emotional support and education related to grief. In addi-tion, the team is able to refer grievers to com-munity resources if more intensive support is needed.

Grief Resource LibraryThe Grief Resource Library is located at the UnityPoint Hospice o� ce and o� ers a variety of information, including books, videos, CDs and DVDs for all age groups.

The library is open 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.,Monday through Friday.
