At a Glance
General Points Unity Pro can be installed using the CD-ROM. Three versions are available: � Unity Pro L,� Unity Pro M,� Unity Pro XL.Installation is possible in five languages.� French,� English,� German,� Spanish,� Italian.
You can install Unity Pro in these five languages. You can therefore choose to use Unity Pro in the language of your choice. Online help is available in the language selected for Unity Pro except for Italian, where online help is provided in English.Once the installation is complete, you have 21 days to register with Schneider Electric. After this date, if you have not registered you will no longer be able to run Unity Pro.

Terminal Configuration
Definition The configuration type determines the level of expected performance. Performance of Unity Pro software can be affected by simultaneously opening several windows, accessing large quantities of animated data, or using a large application.
Required Operating System
Unity Pro software requires one of the following operating systems to be present on the terminal:� Windows 2000 SP2,� Windows XP Computing and Professional.
Internet Explorer Version ≥ 5.0 of Internet Explorer is required. The recommended version is version 5.5.
Minimum Configuration
The following table provides the minimum terminal characteristics necessary to install Unity Pro software:

How to perform a first installation of Unity Pro
Introduction The procedure for a first-time installation simply involves installing Unity Pro without searching for a version already installed on the terminal.It is possible to install the entire software or simply a sub-set of it.
Note: The electronic documentation is installed separately. Please consult the instructions supplied with the installation CD-ROMs or the Readme.txt file on the technical documentation CD-ROM.

How to Launch Unity Pro
Introduction This function is used to open a Unity Pro session.
How to Start a Unity Pro Session
The following table describes the procedure for executing a Unity Pro session.
How to Change the Language of Unity Pro
The following table describes the procedure for changing the language of Unity Pro.
Step Action
1 Execute the command Start → Programs.
2 Select the group Schneider Electric.
3 Select the group Unity Pro.Result: a list is displayed, � Language selection,� OS Loader,� PLC Simulator,� Readme,� Registration Tool,� Types library Update,� Unity Pro L, M or XL.
4 From the list, select Unity Pro L, M or XL.Result: Unity Pro is launched in the selected language.Special case:If you have yet to register the software, a message warns you of the remaining number of days of use left, and asks you if you want to register (See How to register Unity Pro, p. 15).
Step Action
1 Execute the command Start → Programs.
2 Select the group Schneider Electric.
3 Select the group Unity Pro.
4 From the list, select Language selection.Result: the window Unity Pro Language Selection is displayed.
5 In this window, select the language for Unity Pro.
6 Confirm with OK.Result: a message tells you that the language selection will be effective from the next time you launch Unity Pro.

How to register Unity Pro
At a Glance To obtain permanent user rights for the software, you must register it with Schneider Electric. Once the software is installed, you have 21 days to register.

Drivers
At a Glance On installation of Unity Pro, three drivers are installed: � Uni-Telway,� Modbus,� USB.These drivers enable you to operate the link between the terminal and the PLC. The driver to be used is selected in Unity Pro.It is not necessary to change the configuration of the drivers installed, except in exceptional cases. From the Drivers Manager, you can change the configuration of these drivers or install a new driver with the Drivers CD-ROM.The installation manual Communication Drivers presents the different drivers with their installations and configurations.

3 Select the group Communication Drivers.
4 Select Drivers Manager.

How to modify the Unity Pro installation
Objective When a Unity Pro installation perimeter has been created, the installation can then be modified: it becomes possible to add or remove a language or a functionality.
Procedure The following table describes the procedure for modifying an installation.
Step Action
1 Execute the command Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
2 Select the Install/Uninstall tab.
3 Select Unity Pro x.x.
4 Select Modify, the installation wizard is then launched.
5 Select the language that you wish to install or uninstall. Select the new Unity Pro default language and confirm with Next.
6 Select the functionalities that you wish to install or uninstall and confirm with Next.
7 Exit the installation to return to Windows.

How to repair the Unity Pro installation
Objective It is possible to repair a faulty Unity Pro installation without performing a complete reinstallation.
Procedure The following table describes the procedure for repairing an installation.
Step Action
1 Execute the command Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
2 Select the Install/Uninstall tab.
3 Select Unity Pro x.x.
4 Select Support information.
5 Select Repair.
6 Repair the other components: Hardware Catalog, Security Editor, Types Library.Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 for each of the following components:� Unity Pro Hardware Catalog x.x,� Unity Pro Security Editor,� Unity Pro Types Library.

How to install Unity Pro updates and upgrades
Introduction In order to install updates or upgrades of Unity Pro packages, there must be a coherent earlier version already installed on the terminal.
How to install Unity Pro
This procedure describes the different steps for installing Unity Pro software.
Note: If this is not the case, reinstall the earlier version (software package from first installation).
Install the minorpackage

Click “I accept the terms in the license agreement” and confirm with Next

Open the Setup.exe file

How to Uninstall Unity Pro
Objective This operation is used to delete all Unity Pro software components from the terminal.However, this does not affect:� Application files,� Elements shared with other software packages (e.g. config.sys, Unitypro user).
Procedure The following table describes the procedure for uninstalling the software.
Step Action
1 Execute the command Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
2 Select the Install/Uninstall tab.
3 Select Unity Pro x.x.
4 Select Delete.
5 Refresh the Add/Remove Programs data by pressing F5.
6 Once Unity Pro x.x has been uninstalled, uninstall the other components: Hardware Catalog, Security Editor, Types Library.Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 for each component: � Unity Pro Hardware Catalog x.x,� Unity Pro Security Editor,� Unity Pro Types Library.

How to Transfer Unity Pro User Rights from One Workstation to Another
Introduction This function is used to transfer user rights from a source terminal to a new terminal (destination), thus enabling Unity Pro to be launched on it. The transfer can be carried out using:� A 3 1/2" floppy disk,� A removable disk (USB port),� A network.
Note: Once the access rights have been transferred, the source terminal can no longer use Unity Pro unless you save again or make a reverse transfer.Following transfer of the rights to floppy or removable disk, if these rights are altered before being transferred to the destination terminal, contact Schneider Electric for a new registration.

This procedure describes the different steps for transferring user rights.
Start the Registration Tool
Confirm at the welcome screen with Next
Select Authorization Transfer and confirm with Next
Select the transfer method: Network, disk,(3 1/2" or removable disk with USB port) and confirm with
Next(for a disk transfer, insert a blank disk)
Enter the name of the target terminal and share the
Unity Pro directory on this terminal (with read rights),
then confirm with OK

Automatic installation
At a Glance This specific mode is used to launch Unity Pro installation totally automatically, with no action required on the part of the user. The installation performed is the same as a default installation in manual mode. Modifying the command file
The following table describes the procedure for modifying the command file and launching automatic installation.
Step Action
1 From the Unity Pro installation CD-ROM, select the file Install.bat.
2 Right click to display the contextual menu and select Edit.Result: The file opens in text format.
3 Modify the command line "MSIEXEC.EXE /i.................." with the necessary parameters.
4 Save the file.
5 Double click the modified file.Result: The installation starts, and windows appear informing the user throughout the installation process.

Hardware installationType of connection from a terminal to a PLC
At a Glance To program a Premium or Quantum PLC using Unity Pro software, it is necessary to use a linking cable between the terminal and the PLC.
Connections The cables available for connecting a terminal to a PLC are as follows:For Quantum the possibilities are as follows:� Modbus cable, reference 990 NAA 263 20,� Modbus cable, reference 990 NAA 263 20,� Crossed Ethernet cable, reference 490 NTC 000 05 (1),� USB cable, reference UNY XCA USB 033.
For Premium the possibilities are as follows: � Terminal port cable, reference TSX PCX 1031 (RS 232/RS 485),� Terminal port cable, reference TSX PCX 3030 (USB/RS 485),� Crossed Ethernet cable, reference 490 NTC 000 05 (1),� USB cable, reference UNY XCA USB 033.
Procedure The connection between the terminal (PLC address, type of driver) and the PLC is set up using Unity Pro software (cf. Procedures manual, section 'Management of a project' of the chapter 'Overall management of a project' in the part 'General points').
