ideas on how to better serve your organization you are welcomed to contact any of the
Executive Team, Board or your re-spective service Board Member. I highly
encourage you to JOIN IN!!! Get involved - YOU can make your IMCEA bigger, better and stronger moving forward. Have a wonderful holiday season! Thank you, Harper Dickson, CMCE Immediate Past President
Holiday Fun Facts: 33 million real Christmas trees are sold in the U.S. each year. Over 25% of all emails are sent during the holidays. The U.S. Postal Service delivers 20 billion cards and packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. An average of 5,800 people end up in the ER after suffering injuries from holiday decorating. Given the different time zones, Santa has 31 hours to deliver gifts, but his reindeer really have to fly, since that means visiting 823 homes per second.
R ecently, we swore in the new 2014-2015
IMCEA Executive Board. The swearing - in occurred November 5, 2014, via a conference call. I swore in Melissa Schaffner, CMCE as the new President and then she swore in Jim Krueger, CMCE as President Elect, Casey Malloy, CMCE as Vice President and Mike Miller, CMCE as in-coming Secretary/Treasurer. It was my honor serving as your President and I will continue to support IMCEA, the President and those following behind her. IMCEA still has a voice in the MWR community and the vendors that have sup-ported it over the past 30 plus years. As in the past, there is much work to be to keep IMCEA relevant and it can use your help to carry the torch. If you have any

LTJG Hunter C. Warren,
currently the Officer-in-Charge
of the Coast Guard Law
Enforcement Detachment 404,
Tactical Law Enforcement
Team South, was the 2014
recipient of the IMCEA Irving
Rubenstein Memorial Award.
LTJG Warren won his award
as the collateral duty MWR
Officer on Coast Guard Cutter
RESOLUTE (WMEC-620).
The Irving Rubenstein
Memorial Award recognizes
one MWR/Services
professional from each of the
five branches of the Armed
Forces who has been in an
MWR/Services management
position for less than two
years. The Irving Rubenstein
Memorial Award was
established to memorialize the

namesake, Irv Rubenstein.
Winners of the Irving
Rubenstein Memorial Award

management skill and
leadership, achieve
particularly outstanding
performance results in their

possess great potential for

MWR/Services.
Under the direction of LTJG
Warren, the morale program
of CGC RESOLUTE was
transformed from a nearly
defunct collateral duty into one
that was focused on meeting
the needs of the
crewmembers. LTJG Warren
spent much of his free time
planning and administering a
wide variety of exciting unit
events including team
triathlons, trips to
local professional
football and baseball
games, team trivia
nights while
underway, unit
fishing trips, flag
football games, and
softball
tournaments, and a
robust community
relations program
that never failed to bring the
majority of the crew together
for the benefit of others.
The mission of the IMCEA is
to assist individual Morale,
Well-Being, and Recreation
(MWR) and Services program
and activity managers in
developing techniques and
management skills necessary
to assure an outstanding
military MWR/Services
system.

IMCEA Partners with Celebrity as Producer of the 2014-2015 MWR
Technology Toolbox Educational Workshop Series
The International Military Community Executives Association (IMCEA), administrator for the Certified Military Community Executive (CMCE) designation, has partnered with Celebrity Systems Corporation for 2014-2015. In previous years, the workshop series has been produced in conjunction with the Armed Forces Food & Beverage Training Workshops and similar trade events, serving military MWR communities. With increasing budget restraints for travel, and the IMCEA's decision to focus on virtual workshops programming, Celebrity has decided to take the workshops on the road. The tour will travel to different installations, presenting technology workshops for MWR managers and key personnel looking for real-world opportunities to generate increased revenues using the hottest new digital technologies. Workshops will profile case histories of the most successful MWR installations, including Warrior Zones and Liberty Centers, focusing on the latest digital technologies from gaming to LED lighting, apps and social media to touch screen control systems, theater systems to self-contained multi-player gaming stations. "We are delighted to once again partner with Celebrity for these great workshops," said Melissa Wells, IMCEA Chief of Marketing and Communications. "Our past collaborations have been highly successful, and we think this new concept for delivering educational programming directly to installations will go a long way toward keeping MWR professionals updated on all the latest technologies coming to market," she continued. According to Celebrity's Mark Velligan, attendees will also get the opportunity to "touch and feel" a selection of the newest products by way of a Mobile Technology Lab that tandem with the workshops. The demonstrations are made possible by the tour's technology sponsors, including ScreenPlay Entertainment, Bosch Communications Systems, MYE Club TV Systems and EV Electrovoice, with others coming aboard as the tour launches in June. For more information about this tour or to apply, see pages 9 – 10. To confirm that your installation is scheduled, contact Mark Velligan at 949-742-0454 or by email at [email protected], or visit mwrtoolbox.com
