Audio

sound, especially when recorded, transmitted, or reproduced “audio equipment”

In sound recording and reproduction systems, digital audio refers to a digital representation of the audio waveform for processing, storage or transmission. When analogue sound waves are stored in digital form, each digital audio file can be decomposed into a series of samples.

Digital music (sometimes referred to as digital audio) is a method of representing sound as numerical values. This differs from analogue media such as magnetic tapes or vinyl records for instance where the sound is stored in a physical form. In the0case of cassette tapes, this information is stored magnetically.
