7n the Iliad, after Patroclus is illed *' Hector+ a tenacious Achilles acts out and goes to

fight Hector. Because Achilles lo"ed Patroclus+ the )o&er o"erca-e his e-otions and Achilles

illed Hector to a"enge Patroclus,s death. After&ard+ Achilles drags Hector,s carrion around

Patroclus,s gra"e. /his action causes Pria-+ Hector,s father+ "isit Achilles to tr' to get Hector,s

*od' *ac . Pria- tells Achilles to re-e-*er his o&n father and relate hi- to Pria-+ ho&

Achilles,s father &ould do the sa-e as Pria- if he &ere in the )osition. Achilles thin ing of his

father stirred a ne& longing. !ot onl' aching for Patroclus+ *ut also for Hector. Both Achilles

and Pria- then cried together+ soon reali ing that tears -ade the- feel *etter *ut &ouldn,t *ring
