NUTRITION

Nutrients give our cells all the energy they need.

The digestive system the respiratory system the circulatory system and excretory system carry out function of nutition.

THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM The digestive system it has two parts, the digestive tract and the digesrive glands.

Page 3: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

MOUTH

The mouth has salivary glands that produce saliva, teeth that chew food and a tongue that mixes chewed food with saliva to form a ball of food

Page 4: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE PHARYNX

The pharynx connects the mouth and the oesophagus.

Page 5: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE OESOPHAGUS

The oesophagus transports the food to the stomach.

Page 6: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE STOMACH

The stomach is where the food mixes with gastric juices.

Page 7: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE LIVER

The liver secretes bile.

Page 8: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE PANCREAS

The pancreas helps in the digestion of protein.

Page 9: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE SMALL INTESTINE

The small intestine is the longest part of the digestive tract.Nutrients pass into the blood through its walls.

Page 10: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE LARGE INTESTINE

The large intestine absorbs water which passes to the blood .And finally, undigested substances are expelled through the anus.

THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

The respiratory system is in change of breathing.Breathing makes two movements. First, we inhale air and it goes into the lungs. Then, we exhale air sending it out of the lungs.

Page 12: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE NOSTRILS

The nostrils filter the air .

Page 13: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE PHARYNX

The pharynx connet de larynx, the oesophagus and the trachea.

Page 14: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE LARYNX

The larynx contains the vocal cord.

Page 15: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE TRACHEA

The trachea is a tube that takes air into the bronchis.

Page 16: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE BRONCHI

The bronchi are two branches of the trachea

Page 17: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE LUNGS

The lungs are spongy organs made up of small sacs called alveoli.

Page 18: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE DIAPHRAGM

The diaphragm is the muscle than creates the movements.

Page 19: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

When we breathe, the oxygen in the air goes to the blood through the alveoli, and the carbon dioxide from the blood is released outside the body.

THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM

The excretory system filters waste substances from the blood. It removes them from the body through excretion.

The excretory system is made up of: Sweat glands The urinary system. This is made kidneys and urinary tract.

Page 21: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE URINARY SYSTEM

The kidneys remove waste substances from the blood and they make urine.

Page 22: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE URETERS

The ureters take urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

Page 23: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE BLADDER

The bladder stores the urine.

Page 24: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE URETHRA

The urethra connets the bladder to the outside.

Page 25: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM

The circulatory system transports nutrents and oxigen to cells .It is made up of the heart, blood and blood vessels.

Page 26: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE HEART

The heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood around the body.

Page 27: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

BLOOD

The blood collects oxygen from the alveoli and nutrients and transports them to all the cell. It also collects waste substances and takes them to the sweat glands and the urinary system.

Page 28: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

BLOOD VESSELS

The blood vessels are the tubes through which. There are three types: arteries, veins and capillaries.

Page 29: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

ARTERIES

The arteries carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

Page 30: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

VEINS

The veins carry blood from all over the boby back to the heart.

Page 31: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

CAPILLARIES

The capillaries are very thin vessels that reach all the cells of the body.

Page 32: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE BLOOD

Blood is a red liquid tissue made up of cells that float in a liquid called plasma. There are three types of blood cells, red blood cells. White blood cells and platelets.

Page 33: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

*Red blood cells carry oxygen.

*White blood cells remove bacteria and viruses from the blood.

*Platelets are small fragments ofCells tha form blood clots when a Blood vessel breaks.

Page 34: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

THE HEART

The heart use rhythmic systole and diastole movements to pump the blood around the body. The systole is the movement of contraction. The diastole is the movement of relaxation.

Page 35: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

Blood enters the atria through the veins.

Passes to the ventricles and valves that prevent blood comes out.

Of the ventricles, throug the arteries and travels all over the body.

Page 36: Unit 3 nutrition clara s

HUMAN CIRCULATIONHuman circulation is closed. In mammals, the heart septum separates the two halves of the heart.Human circulation is double. The blood follows two routes-Pulmonary circulation. The blood carbon dioxide through the pulmonary artery.-systemic circulation. The blood with oxygen
