Unit 3 Lesson 4DiffusionWere going to come back to diffusion, but for the most part you should know:Innovation/Ideas originate in an area and then move-out through diffusion. Types are:Hierarchical, relocation, contagious, or stimulus When Cultures/Ideas Meet .Watch the video for the following:Acculturation: Process of learning to operate within new culture. Adoption of 2nd culture; learning a new language, can be forced on a person. Acculturation: May speak English at work, but Russian at home.
Assimilation: Abandonment of most aspects of an original culture. Ethnic identity lessons and behaves as the majority behaves.
Keep in mind: Acculturation (Aspects of Old) and Assimilation (Part of Majority).
