•  BarCoding:Barcodesarerecommendedonallpackaginglevelsusedbymanufacturers,withtheexcepJonofprimarypackaging,andshouldconformtoGS1standards.ThebarcodesshouldincludeGlobalTradeItemNumber(GTIN),lotnumberandexpirydate.

•  ImplementaJonofSustainableProcurementCriteriawithintheTenderacJvity,includingSPelementsinthetenderevaluaJon(Weight,Volume,Localmanufacturing);GTCrequirements

•  Internalprocess:introducesteponeofe-tenderingthroughswitchingfromPaperbasedtoElectronicbidsubmissions.

SupplyDivisionisdevelopinganelectronicversionoftheVaccineArrivalReport(VAR).

Aspartoftheshippingprocess,theVARisarequirementintheWHOguidelinesoninternaJonalpackagingandshippingofvaccineswhichrequiresallcountriestocompleteapaperbasedformandreturntoSDwithinthreedaysofreceivingtheshipment.

ThecurrentrateofreturnoftheVARtoSDwithinthreedaysislessthan40percent

ThiscanleadtoinaccurateanddelayedinformaJoninthereports,hinderingaJmelyresponsebyUNICEF.

ImplementaJonoftheVARappisexpectedtoleadtoJmeandcostsavings.ThefasterturnaroundJmeforreceiptoftheVAR,whichinturnallowsforfasternoJficaJonofshipmentinadequacies,willenableUNICEFandsupplierstorespondtoinadequaciesinaJmeliermanner.

During2015-2016,apilotwasconductedbytheAlbania,Turkmenistan,NigeriaandSomaliaCountryOffices.TheappwasusedbyconsigneesintherespecJvecountriesandreceivedposiJvefeedback.Theroll-outacrossallUNICEFcountryofficesisscheduledforQ1of2018
