Subject: Project participation

Dear Shri Gaurav Shorey ji,

I am really grateful for your long standing encouragement and support to me. You

have been a great pillar of support in providing me mentorship in the Green

Building Industry and also including me into the Swaraj project in the core team

on an honorary basis for a very long time.

It is noted that 'to participate/ make a presentation in a Seminar/ Workshop/

Conference, etc., one needs to take permission from the competent authority' in

the internal system of the college. This being a 'project' which can be of academic

interest and can contribute in my research in the form of exposure to the various

rural environs can be helpful. I am therefore copying this mail to Prof. Dr. Anil

Dewan who is my research supervisor and shall be glad to encourage me to be

part of this project.

Additionally i am glad that the project is not an employment part time or full time

and is only an honorary position of an 'Expert' entails me only to the 'costs

towards your travel, board and lodging shall be covered by the project. A modest

honorarium towards your professional time shall also be paid.' This is in line with

the Ordinance No. II of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) regulation-2018 which

currently governs me as a Full Time Research Scholar at School of Planning and

Architecture, New Delhi.

I will quote the provision as it is: '8.4: A scholar who has been awarded

Fellowship/Contingency Grant by the School shall devote his entire time to

doctoral research and shall not engage himself in full-time or part-time

professional practice or employment with public or private institutions or

organisations'

Since the period starts from April 2021 till March 2023 and the total time

duration would be 15 days in three years in total, this would not constitute as

employment and would be suitable to accept.

Thanks and warm regards,

Raja Singh

Dear Gaurav, Thank you for inviting me to be a member of your research team for the UNESCO-IFCD Grant Proposal, and I gladly accept. In this lockdown (with one confirmed case of SARS-Cov-2 infection in one of my office mates) I am unable to send this mail officially on my letterhead, so I hope e-mail will suffice for now. I am Indian, an Architect, my name is Sanjay Prakash, and my short CV is attached with this letter of consent. I can speak and listen and read and understand English and Hindi fluently, and I am a practicing architect with a B/ Arch. degree. Since I have vast experience of having worked in the Lok Jumbish project partly funded by SIDA from 1992 to 1998 (described in the attached paper), I suppose you would find me most useful in getting the village youth together and organize them for charrettes, discussions, and to explain and interpret their local culture and background in a way that is communicable to the outside world. As a long-time practitioner of sustainability, I imagine my views on the sustainability of their cultural practices and working on transforming these practices into business plans could also be of some benefit to your team.

I will be quite free to travel and join the team next financial year, when the project starts. Let me know the next steps. With warm regards,

Sanjay Prakash
