For the foreseeable future SAP will be offering enhancement packs as a method of providing customers with the ability to add new functionality without the disruption of a system upgrade. The resulting shorter project time frame and shorter testing cycles drive down costs and simplifies management of the environment. In addition, customers benefit from the ability to turn on only the functionality which they want to implement. However, just like a major upgrade, a smooth enhancement pack implementation requires detailed planning and testing of the steps involved.
