Understanding Effective Percentages and selecting the correct Cut-Off List

(Addendum to Bulletin of Information, Appendix IX)

Applicants may refer to the sample marksheets and calculations below to understand how course-specific effective percentages (Best 3/4, PCM/PCB, etc) are

calculated. Applicants may also review course-wise effective percentage calculations on the suggestive calculator available on their Dashboards. All calculations are

based on the course-specific eligibility criteria as set out in Chapter 2 of the Bulletin of Information, http://www.du.ac.in/du/uploads/COVID-19/28062020_UG.pdf

Once applicants have ascertained that they are eligible, they may examine the course-wise cut-off percentages posted on the University website for each Cut-

Off list and choose from the colleges/courses that are available to them on their Dashboards.

Understanding how the Cut-off system works: if XYZ College has announced 87% as the cut-off for the UR category for specific course, and your effective

percentage for that course is, for example, 87.3%, then you are eligible for admission (provided you meet all the criteria outlined in the BoI) in that Cut-off List and

must apply to that college within the time-period outlined for that Cut-off List. Cut-off Schedules are available here: http://www.du.ac.in/du/uploads/COVID-

If you belong to a reserved category and meet the cut-off requirement for the UR category, then you will be admitted against a UR category seat, as explained in

Chapter 4 of the Bulletin of Information.

If XYZ college announces 86% as the Cut-off percentage for the same course and category in the second list, then only those applicants who have an effective

percentage of less than 87%, but 86% or more will be eligible for admission in the second cut-off list.

This process is followed for all lists till the end of the fifth list. Thereafter, if there are any vacant seats, Cut-offs as applicable to course and category will once again

be set out by each college, as per schedule to be notified by the University.

All applicants are advised to make their choices well in time within each Cut-Off list as no extension in timings will be made available.
