Contract and Scope Status
Mobile Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Terminal (MAT): The Navy is looking for an off-the-shelf solution to meet the Government’s requirements for replacing the current Single Channel Anti-Jam Man Portable (SCAMP), AN/PSC-11 which is approaching end of life (EOL) and requires a replacement.
RFI Stage
Mast Motion Sensor: To support current operational demands of the US Navy through current life expectation of the SubHDR system, the Navy is seeking a redesigned Mast Motion Sensor (MMS) with a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 25,000 hours or greater to maintain an Ao of at least .94 in accordance with the Operational Requirements Document (ORD) of the OE-562A/USC-38(V), Submarine High Data Rate (SubHDR) antenna system.
RFP Development
Optical Communications (OCOMMS) Air-Water-Interface (AWI) Airborne System: This contract will acquire development of an airborne two-way OCOMMS demonstration system that will link undersea platforms to aircraft under a Joint Project Arrangement with the U.K.

Potential Future Efforts
• Communication at Depth (C@D) design efforts will provide Ship, Submersible, Nuclear (SSN), Ship, Submersible, Ballistic, Nuclear (SSBN) and Ship, Submersible, Guided, Nuclear (SSGN) platforms with an improved communications capability, while operating at depth. This will potentially be an AAP program in the next 5 years.
• All-Through Water (ATW) and Air-Water Interface (AWI) Communications enables capability for sustained underwater communications. AWI provides communications between above water and underwater assets while at speed and depth; ATW provides communications between undersea assets at operationally relevant ranges and data rates. This will potentially be an AAP program in the next 5 years.
• A new submarine afloat and ashore receiver (to replace the existing Submarine LF/VLF VMEBUS Receiver (SLVR) receiver) is envisioned to be developed beginning in FY18. This program is anticipated to be a PDD or AAP program.
• Submarines will potentially get LINK 16 capability through the addition of a LINK 16 transceiver and message processor. This program will be a PDD program over the next 5 years.
