Cohesive Dwelling
This design seeks to provide a healthy and healing space for patients of tuberculosis and their families. The form responds to the prevailing winds and the sun’s path. Cross ventilation is essential and the raised roof ensures a good circulation of air. The peculiar form of the roof provides an excellent platform for rain water harvesting and solar panels. The construction consist of a post and beam concrete system and a wooden framed aluminum roof. The house contains a solid core that contains a water reservoir as well as all the needed life support systems.

LIGHT CHAPEL Second Year PROF. J.TORO Y S.KOTOULAS Team: YOHARY BETANCOURT
The light chapel serves a meeting place for dierent faiths to congregate. The site is located in a culturally rich zone adjacent to one of the main viaducts in the country. The form is a extru-sion of the site which proved a very challenging space due to its peculiar geometry. The program includes chapel, sensory depri-vation studios, cafeteria, classrooms, administration and a yoga garden on the roof. The light chapel serves as a catalyst for the community and faiths to come together in a single space.

DORM IN THE SLOPE Third Year
PROF. F. GUTIERREZ
Two rectangular concrete volumes linked by a plaza and bridges rest on a 1:3 slope. The complex is intended to house 5 industrial designers. The larger volume houses the design facilities which include: design studios, administration, conference area, and finishing, assembly, and fabrication shops. The smaller includes the housing units comprised of 5 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining and living area. The roofs of both struc-tures as the surroundings contain a communal garden in which the designers could grow their own food. The interior garden in the middle of the volumes serves as a light-ing and ventilation device for the lower part of the complex.

MIXED USE BUIDING Third Year Prof. Gutiérrez
The project is a solution for an empty lot used as parking in a culturally rich area of Santurce. Many social classes interact on a daily basis creating a unique challenge in terms of public space and the affordability of the project. The design is composed of two towers that house three kind of residential units and resource centers for the residents. These towers are linked by a horizontal bar that serves as a part for the towers and accom-modates a variety of office and commercial space. The first level of the project takes advantage of the area’s high traffic rate to create a wide sidewalk in which people could interact and provide space for the restaurants and side-walks cafes.

HOTEL / RESEARCHER’S DORMSThird Year Prof. E. Vivonni
This hotel forms part of a master plan for the commune of Sisco, Corsica that aims to incorporate the community and tourism into a symbi-otic relation. The hotel serves as a support facility to a research institute that’s housed in the historic “American house” that sits on the property. The program of the hotel consists in 11 rooms’ administration, breakfast area, lobby, pool, showers and service facilities. Its horizontality is dictated by the region’s well known retaining walls made of dry stone construction.

The Hogar Ruth (a shelter for abused women) approached the com-munitarian design studio seeking help to remodel their existing facili-ties. These do not meet many healthy living standards due to lack of funding and overcrowding. The design looks to remodel the facilities as well as expanding and reorganizing the shelter. The main focus is providing a healthy and healing space while also keeping the partici-pants safe. The project is currently being assessed by volunteers of the College of Engineers of Puerto Rico to start construction.
