Kit of Elements Intro I - Hanwisai
Summer - 2014
A kit of standard parts made of
simple planes, masses, and
volumes that were uniquely assembled and
acted upon a combination of two personal concepts.
Moreover, the spatial construct served
as a rich three-dimensional universe in which dynamic spatial
relationships were studied.

The Light BoxIntro I - Hanwisai Summer 2014
This project emphasized on human scale, stereotomic space , materiality, and lighting conditions in order to be more habitable than the previous model. Moreover, this project first focused on the idea of a small cabin inside a medium-sized sized habitable dwell. Later the idea of flow was incorporated into the final model by giving the habitable dwell a mass that passed through it.

Le Petit Cabanon Intro II - Sanders
Fall 2014
This project was divided into two sections. The first part of
this project consisted of research on two cabins by Tom
Kunding. The purpose of this assignment was to get familiar
with the spaces within the cabins in order to grasp an idea of the components of
each cabin. Finally, in the second part of the project all
of the information gained from the previous portion was
incorporated into small models with
moving parts. These models were unified into a
medium-sized model, working towards the final model. For
the final model the medium-sized model was
multiplied by 1.5 in scale and was given an L-shape site.

Extensions Towards the HorizonIntro II - SandersFall - 2014
This project focused on large space and phenomena. Morever, engaged in contextual landscapes, spatial itineraries, role of time sequences, and issues of public realm. Although we were given the choice to pick a concept of our own, this project involved four different steps. The first was picking a concept and building four small scale models: two “negative” and two “positive” models. The second step was finding a site on the University of South Florida campus that was appropriate for our concepts. The third step was building a medium-sized model that revolved around our concept but also showed emphasis in verticality, flow, and infinite extension. Finally, all of the concepts gathered were put together into a full–sized model.

The Tectonic UmbrellaIntro II - Sanders
Fall - 2014
This project focused on the verticality of a spatial determinant, light as a
design tool to emphasize space, and the issue of architectural language in
relation to the design. Furthermore, three light cabins explored and tested the idea of interrelation between space, light, and scale. Finally, the cabin models
were incorporated into an elongated c-shaped construct with thickness, and
depth that will serve as light filters to a shadow garden.
