eixample blockurban intervention22@ barcelona, spainby armando romero jr & marcia gibson
this project is about developing one of cerdà’s eixapmle blocks to generate social sustain-ability by designing a civic center.
this project began by analyzing and mapping sun and shadow projection. the amount of sun and shadow were mapped and number based on the direct exposure. the two maps were overlap to generate a new map. the map was used to manipulate the geometry of the building and site a civic center with a green roof that tapers down into the central courtyard to maximized the amount of sun and public space the civic center provides

vervelasite + relationship to the community
vervelamulti-program building for the favelaparaisopolis, sao paolo, brazilreviewed by gabriel esquivel, mark gage, brennan buck, alex pincus, paul preissner, and cody davisby armando romero jr
this project confronts the issue between the community and the city and the city to the world through the implementation of a high-ly affectual skyscraper. a social mediator, a programmatic high rise attach to the favela, with the city’s social services and cultural programs in the hearth of sao paulo merging a slum to the city.
this mega high rise is all about skin as struc-ture, an exoskeleton system that supports it-self and the interior system, these tube struc-tures will also inhabit all mechanical systems and vertical circulation. the skyscraper will merge into the favela’s existing infrastructure generating a continuous favela

artfarm compoundconcept + siteplan
artfarm compoundserenbe community in georgiaby armando romero jr & emau vega
this project was about developing an art compound, composed of artist’s studios and living modules and the integration of mix-used service facilities that both the artist and public could enjoythe concept is about the form language and the message that the building is given to its users. the concept began with a simple cube. then divided into hamlets derive from their program relationship, these connected with a central courtyard based on the building type requested. circulation and architectural language began manipulating the form. the site steep topography was a major infl uence in the orientation of the compound. the rela-tionship between private and public program reorganized the form. using the guides from the axis created, the housing was dis attach but integrated into the fi nal artfarm com-pound design.
