CHDR1. First we gave an introduction about CHDR.

What is CHDR? When it will be given to you? What are the different between CHDR of male and female child? Importance of CHDR.

2. Contents of CHDR

Basic details Child growth standards Immunization chart Child developmental assignment Child heath record Student health record Body mass index Infant care Feeding and weaning Child mental health development

3. Child growth chart

We told with mothers to record the height and weight of their child once in month regularly

We described different colour zones in the growth chart & what are they indicate.

Eg : Pink – over weight green – normal weight

Page 2: Under the Paediatric Part

light green – risk for becoming underweight orange – underweight red – Danger zone

We told them to keep their child’s growth curve in the green zone & to be aware on the deviations if the curve.

4. Child developmental assessment

We educated the mothers about assessing the child development with their age (in month)

Then we showed the developmental assessment part in CHDR which has check box that should be filled by parents or guardians

Eg : 1st month of age is your child is turning its head towards the light

5. Body mass index (BMI)

Importance of BMI

i. We educated the mothers that their child’s weight should be relevant to their height

ii. How to calculate the BMI with help of CHDR

6. Yellow pages

Here we showed the yellow page part to the mothers

We described each & every section of it which has an important notes that should be known by each & every mother

Such us

i. Things should be noted after delivery ii. How to keep the baby worm

iii. Breast feeding iv. Umbilical cord managementv. How to induce mental development of child

vi. Some dangerous signs

o We educated the mothers what are the steps should be taken by mother when the child fails to achieve these stages.

o mother should induced the mental development of the child.

Eg : looking the face of the child during breast feeding responding to each and every action of child

o if the problem still remains consultant a pediatrician.

Developmental disorders

o We educated the mothers what are the steps should be taken when they deliver a developmentally abnormal child.

Parents should get proper knowledge about that specific developmental abnormality from a pediatrician.

Parents should take the necessary action regarding rehabilitation & treatment of those abnormalities.

Anthelminthic treatment

o Because of high prevalence of helminthic infestation in that particular area which we have visited, we have some importance for these topic.

o Also gave some information about dosage and alternative forms according to the age of child of anthelminthic drugs.

Bronchial asthma & bronchiolitis

o We gave a small talk regarding precipitating factors, genetic factors & clinical presentation of bronchial asthma & bronchiolitis

o We educate the mothers about the type of inhalers & how to use those inhalers & spacers.

Febrile fits

o First we gave an introduction about seizures & type of seizures, then we described how to differentiate febrile fits from other types of seizures.

o We educated the mothers about the first aid for febrile convulsions & about the things that should be avoided.

Diarrheal illness

o Under this topic we covered the following headings

o Those are

Definition of diarrhea Importance of diarrhea in children How to examine the state of hydration

Page 5: Under the Paediatric Part

Causes of diarrhea Importance of ORS (Oral rehydration solution) How to prepare and give ORS How to prepare homemade ORS

o After this health education program, we randomly selected 45 mothers & collect the details regarding prevalence of selected pediatric diseases of their children.

o We also got details about type of delivery & deworming & vaccination.
