The graphs presented herein display metals fatigue information from varioussources of published and unpublished test reports which have been processedad regenerated through a seni-autoiatic data processing system. Each seriesor set of graphs contain descriptive information (legends) which identifiesthe material, test procedure, test conditions and the most significant testmd/or material variables associated with 'the plotted data. The data displayedin each set of graphs is intended to answer very general "queastions" and toserve "a a guide ,to further invest igation of specific areas within theSubject presented.

INTRODUCTION

This is one of a series of reports presenting compilations of testresults pertaining to fatigue of metals,

The information contained in each set of graphs is the result of arelatively general "question" asked of a semi-automatic data processingsystem which stores, processes and regenerates the information inthe requested form. More specific and detailed presentations andanalyses are usually possible. These are available upon request. Thegraphic form in which this information is presented is only one ofvarious types of output of which this mechanized system is capable.Tabulations and listings may also be generated by the system.

These data are intended to assist in the determination of reliable andefficient materials propertieF. The information contained hereinshould be used with due consideration to applicable specificationsand established organizational procedures.

All graphs are labeled with a "search number". These serve toidentify a broad block of information associated with a particular(internal) data processing pactern. Craph numbers are assigned insequence within atq search for the purpose of separating andidentifying sub-groups of useful information. There is no re-quirement for graphs in any number sequence to have any relationshipother than being the produt of the same search., Alphabeticcharacters following a common graph number are used to identify aseries or set of graphs which are related. Subsequent graphs withina, series (bearing a common. graph number) are used to indicate effects andinteractions associated with some obvious variables. The unlimitednumber of combinations available for display and analysis dictates thatthese presentations be limited to relatively gevneral subject matter.Detailed studies car, b,2 performed on request.

A legend on each graph describes the materiil, test type and othervariables necessary to identify the plotted data. rhe reference list for.ach graph set follos the last graph of the set.
