Waikato Branch Committee Election, 2016 – 17
Time to make some input into the running of our branch. All positions vacant,
Coordinator, Vice Coordinator, Secretary, Treasurer + four committee members.

the Branch AGM on Monday 2nd May. Nomination Form below.
Auckland Westpac Helicopter Rider – Sunday 15 February
Hi everyone, my name is Chris and I am in the process of joining as a new member, so as part of that I attended the ride to Auckland for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter charity ride, and as I had the GoPro running I thought I might share some images with you as a way of introducing myself. I am the guy with the red and black Suzuki naked bike. I met up with some of the team at the Rototuna BP at 7:30, we then collected some others at Huntly and made our way up to Papakura where we arrived nice and early. I met some of my Auckland mates there and we watched lots and lots of bikes arriving. I believe the final number was around 400, a mix of cruisers, sport bikes and CanAms, pretty much any sort of bike. I was so busy chatting to my mates I more or less lost track of the Hamilton team which was unfortunate but couldn’t be helped with 400 bikes in a parking lot. After a briefing from the police rider, we made our way back onto the motorway and up to the shore. The police had it well organised, blocking off on-ramps and giving us a lane all to ourselves. I have never ridden in anywhere near such a large group and the speed we were travelling at was a bit uneven, as we sped up and slowed down, but I don’t think anyone had any real issues and we all stayed upright. I was pretty stressed as it was my first time and it didn’t help that I was watching cars driving past, the drivers holding their cellphones out the window filming us, but we got there in the end. The sound as we went through a tunnel was deafening! At the end we all assembled and parked up in the designated parking lot. The raffle was held, I didn’t win but I am sure they were reading out the wrong numbers! I didn’t manage to catch up with the team again but I was very glad to be on the ride, it was fairly eye opening. Good practise. Thanks team!

SPUD DIG – 28 February
Heavy rain on the evening before the annual Spud Growing “Dig” threatened to put a damper on
proceedings but all worked out well on the day. The eleven growers came from Hamilton (7),
Huntly way (2), Morrinsville way (1) and Te Awamutu (1). Row provided lunch at the farm and
there was tea at Rosalie’s to conclude a very pleasant social and different kind of day to our usual
fare.
This year’s winner is Ivan Goile (6lbs) followed by Rowena Smith (5lbs) then Glenn (Shrek) Procter
(4lbs). Organiser Jim Galt advises that a Special Award will be made to ChrisTOPHER McKinnon at
5
the March branch meeting on Monday 7th. Once again, many thanks to Jim for organising,
hopefully more members will plant a spud next season?

The Timeless Ride
“Selling everything I had in 2005 to go travel around the world on my sidecar was the best decision I ever made in my life”.
I am now on the road for good, in India today, shipping my sidecar to New
Zealand.

1. Phone answering machine message - '...If you want to buy marijuana, press the hash key...' 2. A guy walks into the psychiatrist wearing only Clingfilm for shorts. The shrink says, 'Well, I can clearly see you're nuts.' 3. I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day - but I couldn't find any. 4. My friend drowned in a bowl of muesli. A strong currant pulled him in. 5. A man came round in hospital after a serious accident. He shouted, 'Doctor, doctor, I can't feel my legs!' The doctor replied, 'I know you can't, I've cut your arms off'. 6. I went to a seafood disco last week and pulled a muscle. 7. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly. They lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving once and for all that you can't have your kayak and heat it. 8. Our ice cream man was found lying on the floor of his van covered with hundreds and thousands. Police say that he topped himself. 9. Man goes to the doctor, with a strawberry growing out of his head. Doc says 'I'll give you some cream to put on it.' 10. 'Doc I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home'. 'That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome. ' Is it common?' 'It's not unusual.' 11. A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet. 'My dog is cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?' 'Well,' said the vet, 'let's have a look at him.' So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then he checks his teeth. Finally, he says, 'I'm going to have to put him down.' 'What? Because he's cross-eyed?' 'No, because he's really heavy.' 12. Guy goes into the doctor's. 'Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my bottom.' 'How's that?' 'Don't you start.' 13. Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, and the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off. 14. 'You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine. So that was nice.' 15. A man walked into the doctor's, he said, 'I've hurt my arm in several places'. The doctor said, 'Well don't go there any more'
