Presidents Report.
Hello to all our members in the MIA Branch of Ulyssian riders and partners. I trust that all is well with you all and make sure you keep upright and safe
whilst riding and or driving with club rides etc.
Our ride calendar for March is in our bulletin and face book page. If you
have a mobile phone, you can view it anytime.
Your executive has sought information from Nat Com Administration Office seeking all current members that belong to the MIA Branch. This will give us
a true number of members in our branch.
Your executive members and I are some what concerned over the attendance numbers to our once a month meeting. Also of concern is the
number of members in our club is diminishing for various reasons.
Moves are underway to seek our members input into preferred nights and locations for our meetings. Also consider rides that may be of interest as
well as other interaction with other Ulysses Branch members.
On a personal note, I am sincerely concerned that should members not show a commitment to rides, meetings or holding any position within our
club for the year 2018 and thereafter, it will cease to operate.
So, please take time in reading our news letter and completing the survey, replying to a memo sent regarding members interested in the bulletin mailed or emailed, wishing your name to be registered on a TAM (To All
Members) for rides and other notifications.
And as a final comment within my report, please ring a fellow Ulyssian for a chat or ride. A phone call can do so much more for moral and
friendship than just looking at a Tam that is a tool only for information.
Cheers to all,
Pres Phil.

MIA March 2017 Social Meeting
Phil welcomed all to the meeting and called for
apologies. Not much to report.
He reminded members to call the ride coordinators
if they are planning on attending a specific ride.
Keeping each other informed of who is going on what
ride will prevent members from missing out on a ride.
Keep track of rides through the Ride Calendar or
Facebook. TAM text messages are still going out with
details of events or rides. Members are asked to inform
the executive committee members if they no longer
want to send out TAM text messages to other members.
Also if you’re no longer interested in receiving mobile
TAM text messages or E-mail TAM messages please
contact the executive committee members.
Phil also discussed the timing of MIA Branch monthly
meetings. Most of the members present indicated that
they were happy with Wednesday night meetings with a
few indicating that it would make life easier if the
meeting was changed to a Tuesday night. Changing it
to a Tuesday would possibly mean a change of venue.
A survey to be included with the March newsletter to
get an idea of what is the best day for the meeting.
(Please fill in the attached Survey and return it to the
MIA branch Secretary as soon as possible. The Ed.)
Ethel presented her Treasurer’s Report with our
branch maintaining a small savings. See page 3.
Ethel has orders for two MIA branch shirts for
members and hopefully they will arrive soon. If any
member would like to purchase a new MIA branch shirt
please speak with Ethel at next meeting.
Barry’s presented the Secretary’s Report -

Wagga Wagga Ulysses branch newsletter.
‘Thankyou’ card from Annette & Noel Buchan.
Dianne reported that all ok with the newsletter.
Survey to members to go out with newsletter to
determine timing of future MIA branch meetings.
Barry & Margarita still working on revamping the
TAM messages. They are investigating different
programs for sending out messages via the internet to
mobile phones as text messages.
Dianne reported that there had been two enjoyable
rides over the past month. Barry & Margarita
apologised for not making Urana BBQ; an urgent
mechanical repair job came up for Barry.
The ride to Temora was dampened a bit by the rain,
which was a change from the heat, resulting in the
planes being grounded. Four wet souls dried out at the
Temora Roundabout Bakery before heading back to
Ardlethan, where the sun was shining, then going their
separate ways home. Thanks Daryl S and Robert H for
keeping us company. Clive W didn’t quite make the
trip after having to turn back at Barellan due to battery
problems. Andrew R travelled from Leeton and headed
back home after Ardlethan as he needed to get ready for
a hiking trip to Tassie with Jim W.
The BBQ ride to Urana was a good day out with Clive
W coming all the way from Merriwagga to join up with
us and Jasen D at Griffith. Robert H and Phil & Bev G
rode directly from Narrandera and were waiting at the
BBQ area when we arrived.
Apart from the flies, and Clive W’s trailer receiving
some damage from extensive road works that were a bit
rough, it was an enjoyable day out. Clive seemed to
attract large semi-trailers to his rear end so we hope it
hasn’t turned him off attending BBQs in the future.
Pamela-Rośe asked that regular BBQ meets be
included back into the ride calendar. It was suggested
instead of the normal BBQ, which was usually held on
the first Sunday after the monthly meeting, having a
morning tea at ‘Peeches’ Griffith Central on either the
Saturday or Sunday. After much discussion it was
decided to have morning tea on Saturday this month but
in future be flexible with either the Saturday or Sunday.
The day will be determined by any rides scheduled for
either of these two days.
Geoff R expressed his disappointment in there not
being more 2 or 3 day rides in the Ride Calendar. It was
brought to Geoff’s attention that members are invited to
come up with ideas for rides and, of late, Andrew has
gone alone or with only one other member on longer
rides involving overnight stays.

Morning tea at ‘Peeches’ on Saturday March 4 was a
success with 8 members turning up to enjoy coffee/tea
and goodies. We were enjoying ourselves so much that
it was well after 12 noon before the table was vacated.
Thank you Pamela-Rośe, Lynn T, Pauline & Daryl S
(and daughter and grand-daughter), Mary & Ange V
and hubby Robin S for coming along. It was actually
my birthday and the gathering made it a great start to
my special day.

A farmer went to a local bar and ordered a glass of champagne.
The woman sitting next to him said, 'How about that? I just ordered champagne too!'
'What a coincidence' the farmer said. 'This is a special day for me. I'm celebrating.'
‘This is a special day for me too, I am also celebrating,' said the woman.
'What a coincidence!' said the farmer. As they clinked glasses he added: 'What are you celebrating?'
'My husband and I have been trying to have a child and today my gynaecologist told me that I am pregnant!'
'What a coincidence!' said the man. 'I'm a chicken farmer and all last year my hens were infertile, but today they are all laying eggs again.'
'That's great!' said the woman, 'How did your chickens become fertile?'
'I used a different cock,' he replied.
The woman smiled, clinked his glass and said 'Well, another coincidence!'
Anon
An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of
leaving with her vehicle.
She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her
lungs,
"I have a gun, and I know how to use it!
Get out of the car - NOW!"
The four men didn't wait for a second threat.
They got out and ran like mad.
The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got
into the driver's seat.
She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then she realized
why.
It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee, and two 12-packs of
beer in the front seat.
A few minutes later, she found her own car parked
four or five spaces further down.
She loaded her bags into he own car and drove to the police station to report her mistake.
The Sergeant to whom she told the story couldn't
stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the
counter, where four pale men were reporting a
carjacking by a mad, elderly woman described as
white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair,
and carrying a large handgun.
No charges were filed.
Moral of the story?
If you're going to have a senior moment...
make it memorable!
