Measuring principle

The ultrasonic analyzer LiquiSonic 30 determines in-line the sound velocity and the concentration in liquids.

The ultrasonic principle is a continuous, contactless method which is independent of the transparency of the medium and shows a high reliability.

The sound velocity is related to the concentration respectively the density. If the distance between the ultrasonic transmitter and receiver is known, it is possible to measure the sound velocity via the determination of the propagation time and so to conclude the density.

A new signal processing guarantees an extremely high accuracy when measuring the sound velocity. In addition a highly precise temperature measuring, the improved ultrasonic sensor construction and the know-how, acquired during innumerable series of measuring and lots of applications, ensure outermost precise results.

LiquiSonic consists of one or up to four ultrasonic sensors and a controller (evaluation unit).

The ultrasonic sensor contains the virtual ultrasonic measuring. It is realized as a flange (sandwich) or immersion type sensor. The ultrasonic sensor also determines exactly the temperature of the liquid.

The controller is responsible for the concentration calculation and the communication with the user. An TFT-display and a for operator buttons allow a simple system configuration and the adaptation to various applications.

Controller

Variants LiquiSonic 30 is the standard device with all functions. Up to 4 sensors can be connected with one controller. Several functions, like trend presentation or the logbook make this device to an efficient analyzer.

LiquiSonic 20 is the low budget version with only basic functions.

LiquiSonic 40 calculates the concentrations of 3-components liquids. The controller uses the sound velocity and an external signal like the density or the conductivity.

LiquiSonic 50 has features for optimal application in crystallization and polymerization processes.

The calculation of the concentration can adjusted to achieve optimal process results.

The controller has a lot of parameters and helpful functions. The parameters are structured in a parameter tree.

The device has an automatic self check. All error messages are shown in a message box and the errors are stored into an event-logbook.

The system security is very important. The controller has a comfortable user management. It is possible to define several user with different access right. This user management ensures that only specific users are able to calibrate the device.

LiquiSonic 30 has the possibility to store important events into an event logbook. The logbook is readable by the interface and can be presented on the display.

This is a comfortable documentation for the user access and the handling. Who has when calibrate which product.

The values of several sensors are presented in the 2- or 4-sensor view.

LiquiSonic 40 allows the calculation and the display of 2 different concentrations in a 3-component-liquid.

LiquiSonic 50 offers several functions for optimal control of crystallization and polymerization processes. For crystallization application the display shows the supersaturation and the content of crystals.

Installation recommendations The installation of the sensors is easy and requires no specific attention. No specific inlet and outlet designs as well as specific process fittings are required. For detailed information please ask for general installation recommendations (http://www.sensotech.de/download/LSM109_01.pdf).

For higher ambient temperatures the sensor can be adapted with a remote electronic enclosure or with a separate heat exchanger from our standard accessories .

Wiring The connection between sensor and controller supplies the sensor and realizes the data exchange (digital bus). The cable consists of the power supply cables and a twisted pair for the bus.

The required dimension depends on the number of connected sensors and the overall cable length:

A software package is offered which enables the configuration and communication with the LiquiSonic-analyzers from a personal computer.

SonicWork The software SonicWork is a PC based software with following functions:

• down loading of product product datasets

• reading of logbook data

• on-line reading with a PC and trend chart

• device configuration

The program works with Windows 98 2000 and Windows NT, XP

SonicWork, reading of measuring values SonicWork, trend chart

SonicWork allows the remote control of the LiquiSonic analyzer by intranet, internet or modem connection.
