While marine diesel and gas engines are

presently among the most efficient prime

movers, a substantial part of the energy

available in the fuel is typically discarded as

residual heat in the exhaust gas and in the

cooling water.

The recovery of this otherwise wasted energy

can lead to meaningful gains. Pyro™ waste

energy management mobilize this lost energy

for use on other applications, including the

warming of accommodation areas, de-icing of

decks, stairways and railings, tank heating and

ballast water treatment.

Up to 60% of the energy produced can be reuti-

lized, with financial and environmental gains.

And these benefits can be, through Ulmatec’s

integrated control system, easily documented,

stored and visualized by the charterer.

Through subsidiaries in the group, Ulmatec has

specialized in the design and manufacture of

custom-built power generation solutions for the

shipping and offshore market.

Ulmatec manufactures and delivers diesel and

gas generators for electricity production on

land, and generator and propulsion systems for

Through the renowned brand Baro™, Ulmatec

develops a wide range of specialized offshore

products for marine seismic acquisition. Baro™

has been the industry´s key supplier for more

than three decades.

The purpose designed products include the

Barovane™ marine seismic diverters. Baro™

also manufactures rigid source and optimized

handling systems. These products are developed

for minimizing damage to equipment and have

proven to increase safety and reduce downtime.

Further, a flexible float system and other key

key components for wide-tow configurations are

integrated parts of the portfolio.

Ulmatec is a supplier of electric controlled

systems and pressure control equipment used

for well intervention. Equipment and panels

such as BOP and well control units, grease

injection skids and wireline winches. Pressure

test and flush units may be delivered according

to our customers unique specification.

Ulmatec offers a wide range of special

equipment for the sub-sea industry, and is

a leading supplier of electrically controlled

systems and machinery, such as active heave

compensated winches.

The company develops modern handling and

logistics solutions; launch and recovery systems

(LARS) for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs),

IMR-towers (Inspection, Maintenance, Repair),

skid and cursor systems for launch and recovery

over the shipside and through the moon pool,

from built-in hangars and from open deck.

Ulmatec handling systems ensure efficient

logistics on deck as well as safe launch and

The company name ulmatec is an abbreviation of ulstein marine

Technology AS, a company whose story can be traced back to 1917,

with the creation of ulstein mek verksted, which was later to became

the ulstein group. following the acquisition of ulstein by vickers and

rolls-royce, in 1999, a number of new marine businesses flourished

in the area, one of these being ulmatec. Established in 2000, ulmatec

is presently the parent company of a group of subsidiaries delivering

marine technology and services worldwide.
