BRUCE GREY CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD – VISION STATEMENT
Committed to a vibrant Catholic education, we ensure quality learning experiences through community partner-
ships that nurture each student in mind, body and spirit and embrace the teachings of Christ, giving witness to
Gospel values.
Monday, June 1st, 2015
Volunteers are the heart and soul of any
community. As we venture into the last month of
school we celebrate our volunteers. Let us remember
that their hands are the hands of power that strength-
en, rescue, teach, love and represent Christ on Earth.
Dear God, bless the volunteers at ICS. Send your bless-
ings and graces to each one of them filling their hearts,
minds and souls with the Holy Spirit.
This year, in honour of our volunteers, we will be having
mass beginning at 11:00AM on Wednesday June 24th.
Immediately following mass we invite our volunteers to
come to the school for a sit down lunch. Following
lunch will be the virtue assembly. If you have volun-
teered in any way please plan to attend. Please RSVP to
519 367 2900 if you are able to attend.

Class Lists/Teaching
Assignments for next year. Planning continues to be underway for the 2015-2016 school year. We are very excited to have our Kindergarten program in French as well. Staffing is not complete for our school and teach-ers have not been assigned their grades for next year. With this in mind, class lists are often not complete until late summer due to a variety of changes that can take place (new registrations, changes in staffing...). Although parents make requests for their children to be in a specific class, often times those requests can-not be granted due to changes that occur over the summer in staffing and new student registrations. Please keep this in mind and I ask that you are patient as we await final staffing to be com-pleted. Class lists will be available on September 8th, 2015 which is the first day of school. This timeline enables me to ensure all registrations that occur late August / early September are ac-counted for. Sometimes due to later registrations, class lists need to be switched around because of numbers. Students will begin the year with a prayer service in the gym and teachers will call their names as we did this year. Beginning the year with a prayer service is a wonderful way to begin the school year and celebrate our faith as a school community.
Thank you Thank you The students raised $1802.45 at the
Mission Bazaar on May 8th! Well done!
Money raised will go towards building our school in Haiti and the Walkerton
Foodbank.
Let us remember in our prayers
Steve Trapp, Maria Travass, Sean Parks and Gord Rody
Uncle to Mrs. Schefter, Grandmother to Mlle Masca-renhas, dear friend to many staff and Grandfather to
Meredith, Baxter, Xavier and Briar Legace.
“Gracious God, loving Creator,
welcome Steve, Maria, Sean and Gord into
paradise. In Your love, lead them into the
unending joys of Your presence
where every tear will be wiped away, and
there will be no more sorrow.
Amen.”

Tutors in the Classroom/Helpers in the Classroom
We are very fortunate to have students help us in our classrooms during May and June. Many thanks to Dominique Pilon and Sam Eckert, our tutors in the classroom. We wish them all the best in their future studies. We have also had Hayley Martin, a former ICS student, helping out in Kindergarten as her co-op placement. We have had Jessica Schmalz, a former student volunteering in our classrooms. We are truly blessed to have volunteers and student helpers who help out from time to time in our classrooms throughout the year. Thank you to those individuals for truly making a difference here at ICS.

SUMMER LEARNING ADVANTAGE CAMPAIGN –
REMINDER Summer is coming and so is Summer Learning Advantage.
Now is the time to plan activities that will keep your child’s mind busy and
actively involved during those long and lazy days of summer. One suggestion
is the Learning Advantage Workbook in English or French. Each Activity book offers 192 fully coloured pages designed to
reinforce and maintain students' academic learning skills over the summer . There is a different activity for each grade -
from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7. Each grade level book features units aligned with the Ontario curriculum; parent
information pages, evaluation forms; follow up activities and a family focus. The cost of each book is $20.00. Visit
www.learningadvantage.ca to download a free unit of the book you would like to order. Order forms have been sent home.
This year, orders can be done on line or through the mail. Please do not send order forms back to the school.

Thank you to the Formosa CWL for the beautiful blessed rosaries that were given to our grade 2’s for receiving their First Holy Communion. We are truly blessed to have our school in the beautiful community of Formo-sa. 90% of our students do not live in the community of Formosa. We are grateful of how generous our CWL is to our students who are coming from communities all over the area. God continues to work in many ways. Merci Beaucoup!
