artistic design and passion reflected in its

craftsmanship. It was not until the 1950's;

however, that Italy was able to surpass

France in innovation and design to dominate

the market on hand-made goods. Florence,

in particular, quickly rose to the forefront

of high quality craftsmanship and became a

mecca for American designers in search of

an entree into the artisanal market.

Paolo Lentucci, founder of Buying and Design,

began his career in furniture during this

Italian golden age of the 1960's and 70's. By

continuing to push the boundaries of design

and furniture innovation, now almost 40

years later, Mr. Lentucci has created a new

and exciting international program "Uffizi

Home", that pairs the unrivaled Florentine

wood working skills and unique hand applied

finishes, with high quality American upholstery

operations based in North Carolina.

...MADE IN THE USATextile manufacturing and upholstering are

hallmarks of the American South. Even today,

despite the trend towards overseas production,

North Carolina remains the largest source

of high quality textile work in the USA. The

men and women who build the upholstery

for Uffizi Home are among the outstanding

examples of the true American craftsman.

Every step of the process is accomplished

by hand: from the designing of patterns, to

the cutting and fitting of the fabrics, to the

sewing of the final details that make Uffizi

Home products unrivaled in terms of quality.

It is this sense of expertise and pride that

Carolina perfect for Uffizi Home. By stocking

finished Italian chair frames domestically in

the USA, and offering an array of designer

fabrics along with COM, customers have the
