Why do innocent people often act like they’re guilty? Law is about the regulation of human behaviour, whilst psychology is the study of human behaviour. Combining these two disciplines will enhance your study experience, contextualise your learning and provide a pathway to diverse and exciting careers. Why study this course? You will study Law and psychology in equal measure in year 1. You can then decide to continue with the LLB (Hons) Law with Psychology and so obtain a qualifying law degree; or if Psychology is your preferred option, you can pursue that and thus become eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS). After successfully completing the LLB (Hons) Law with Psychology, you can go on to the professional element of legal training either as a solicitor or as a barrister. There are also a number of specialities that psychologists can pursue within the larger area of psychology and law, including research, clinical practice, public policy, and teaching. This programme may be of particular interest to those interested in working with offenders and within the criminal justice system. Did you know? Each year we organise a dedicated law careers fair which is supported by a range of employers, from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to Local Government and Solicitors firms. Course content For the duration of the course your learning and assessment will be via a combination of lectures, seminars, web-ct discussion forums, guest lectures and various other interactive technologies. You will study a variety of core modules on this programme, varying from Contract Law and Land Law, to Forensic Psychology and Profiling Offenders. Furthermore, there are many optional modules to choose from, such as The Psychology of Violent Behaviour, Psychology of Evidence, and Offenders in Secure and Community Settings. The broad spectrum of taught modules will ensure that, whatever your learning style, you will reach your full potential. LLB (Hons) Law (Foundation Entry) - 4 years The LLB (Hons) Law (Foundation Entry) degree is a 4 year law degree starting with a Foundation Entry year, available to all students who demonstrate potential butdo not hold the standard qualifications. The course includes a preparatory year ofstudy at the beginning of your standard degree which allows you to start university and get up to speed for year one of any undergraduate Law course.

Did you know?As an MLaw student you’ll qualify for funding from Student Finance England for all four years. So there’s no need to find extra funding to take the LPC!

OTHER UNDERGRADUATE LAW COURSES

Full-time 4 years If you want to be a solicitor, this is the course for you. By combining a qualifyingLLB course and the Legal Practice Course (LPC), successfully completing the MLawmeans you can walk straight into your first solicitor’s training contract. As well asbuilding practical legal knowledge, you’ll develop the interviewing, employability and debating skills you’ll need to succeed, and in your fourth year you'll have theopportunity to take part in two supervised pro-bono legal clinics, one general andone business-focussed, for invaluable hands-on experience of life as a solicitor.
