• When you register, you will be given a username and a password. Make sure you write BOTH of these down. It is possible to get them again from UCAS if you lose them, but is a slow process! So write them here:

• Username (allocated to you in the form “jsmith26”) _____________

• Password (you choose this) ____________

• Courses: Point of Entry – Leave this blank, unless you have the agreement of the university for you to begin in year 2. Leaving it blank means you want to start with Year 1 of the course – as most people do.

• Education: Centre Number - Our

school’s Centre Number is 8304831

• Education: Qualifications – include all qualifications: standard grade, intermediate 1 or 2, higher, advanced higher, access, SQA units, courses you completed at college. If you passed a course, you only have to enter the course – not all the individual units. However, if you failed a course, you should enter the units that you did pass. Some pupils also have an SQA Work Experience Unit and one or two RMPS (RE) units from S4.

• You must also enter courses you are taking this year. Almost all school courses will appear on the drop-down menu on the form; this also gives the correct code for each course. For a few courses, there may be two different code numbers. It is important that you enter the correct number. For qualifications you already have, the correct code appears beside the course name on your SQA certificate. For these, and for courses you are taking this year, teachers can access the correct code on the Click and Go (school administration) programme. So if there are two different codes and you don’t know which to use – ask a teacher!

• About You • Fee Code: enter 02 Student

Support Arrangements: enter SAAS• (This is important! If you get these

wrong, it may be assumed that you don’t want any financial support, and that you want to pay your university fees yourself!)

• Personal Statement: You can type your personal statement directly onto the website. However, the website “times you out” after a few minutes, and if you have not saved your work you will lose it. You will also want to draft your statement, discuss it with your UCAS mentor, and redraft it. You are, therefore, strongly recommended to write it first on a Word document (or any word processor) separate from the website. You can pass it electronically, or on paper to your UCAS mentor. When your personal statement is ready, cut and paste it onto the UCAS apply page. There will be help in PSHE for this section, but go ahead and make a start on a first draft.

Hand out references to your teachers this week!!

• Your Reference – You have been given a UCAS Reference Form for each of your teachers(spares are on Ms Milner’s door). It is your responsibility to give this to the appropriate teachers. The teachers will then complete the form, and send it to the PT who will be writing your reference. If there is a teacher other than your current class teachers who knows you from teaching you last year, or from extra-curricular involvement, you can ask them to submit a report, too. If you are studying a course at college, or at another school, you must also get that teacher to submit a report. Your Pastoral Care teacher will draw heavily on these reports in writing your reference.
