Performance Tasks

Performance Task 1 – GRASPS

(Whole 1st Quarter Practice on Typing)

Goal:Convince buyers to buy a typing software. Role:You are a software reviewer, somebody that rates new softwares.Audience:The target audience is potential buyers of the software.Situation:A programmer approached you to make a review of his product (a typing software).Product Performance and Purpose:Demonstrate basic PC operation and typing skills Standards and Criteria for Success:o Show acceptable speeds in typingo Demonstrate accuracy in PC operation

Note: Instructors must be always roving around, correcting students on their finger placement, identifying their errors. The following rubric shall be followed in grading. Lesson 1 Typing to Lesson 6.

Begin with an entry question (How can I earn extra money from knowing how to operate a PC?) HookState the Essential Questions and discuss the hands-on activity they will be doing. Where & WhyComputer terms are introduced as needed by the various learning activities. For some activities (e.g. Typing) student and the instructor will keep a record to keep track of their performance and for later review and evaluation. For purposes of good file management, ask the students to create a folder, create a file in Paint, and save the file to created folder. Follow the grading criteria below.

You are asked to assemble the computer.Product Performance and Purpose:Demonstrate Basic PC Assembly skills Standards and Criteria for Success:o Accuracy in pinpointing proper hardware to the correct porto Follow safety assembly guidelines to prevent computer damage

Note: The class will be divided into groups and they will assemble the PC. Will follow the rubric below for grading the performance activity.
