STAGE 1 – DESIRED RESULTS

Students will understand that….Computers come in different forms and sizes.Computers can perform different tasks, aside from using it as game consoles.Computers has three elements wherein without one of these element/s, it will not function.The hardware element of the computer is divided into two parts.Adherence to the correct process flow helps maintain the operation of a PC.

At the end of the quarter, the student will demonstrate understanding on the basic operation of a computer. Topics for the unit are the following:

- What is a computer?- Types of Computer- Types of Microcomputers- Elements of the Computer System- What are Input Devices?

The Keyboard Parts of the Keyboard Functions of the other parts/keys of the keyboard

The Mouse Parts of the Mouse Functions of the Mouse

- The System Unit Two Parts of the System Unit

- What are Output Devices Parts of the Monitor Printers and other Output Devices

Kinds of Printers

Essential Questions What is a computer? Can a computer work on its own? What are the different types of computer? What modern devices are equipped with computers? How are computers used in everyday living? What is an Operating System? What are the different Operating Systems? What are the different elements of an Operating System? How are files organized in my computer? How do I print documents? How does one maintain the smooth operation of a PC? What would happen when a computer was not turned off properly? How do you view properties of files?

Performance Task 1 – GRASPS

(Whole 1st Quarter Practice on Typing)

Goal:Convince buyers to buy a typing software. Role:You are a software reviewer, somebody that rates new softwares.Audience:The target audience is potential buyers of the software.Situation:A programmer approached you to make a review of his product (a typing software).Product Performance and Purpose:Demonstrate basic PC operation and typing skills Standards and Criteria for Success:o Show acceptable speeds in typingo Demonstrate accuracy in PC operation

Note: Instructors must be always roving around, correcting students on their finger placement, identifying their errors. The following rubric shall be followed in grading. Lesson 1 Typing to Lesson 6.

STAGE 3 – LEARNING PLAN

For purposes of good file management, ask the students to create a folder, create a file in Paint, and save the file to created folder. Follow the grading criteria below.

Note: The class will be divided into groups and they will assemble the PC. Will follow the rubric below for grading the performance activity.
