Possessive Adjectives
Unidad 1 Etapa 3
Pg. 82
Possessive Adjectives Possessive adjectives tell you who owns something or describes a relationship between two people or things.
In Spanish, possessive adjectives agree in number with the nouns they describe.
Remember that the possessive adjective refers to the person(s) or thing(s) being possessed, not the possessor.
Possessive Adjectives There are both singular and plural possessive adjectives, just like regular adjectives:
Es mi libro. It is my book.
Son mis libros. They are my books.
Singular Possessive Adjectives (describe singular things that people/things possess)
Su their/all of your
Su his/her/it’s/your
Vuestro (a) y’all
Tu your
Nuestro (a) our
Mi my
Plural Possessive Adjectives (describe plural things that people/things possess)
Sus their/all of yours
Sus his/her/it’s/your
Vuestro (as) y’all’s
Tus your
Nuestros (as) our
Mis my
The adjectives nuestro(a) and vuestro(a) must also agree in gender with the nouns they describe.
Ejemplos:
SINGULAR PLURAL Nuestro abuelo Nuestros abuelos Nuestra abuela Nuestras abuelas
If you need to emphasize, substitute the adjective with:
de + pronoun or the person’s name
Es su tío. Es el tío de él.
de usted, él, ella de nosotros (as) de vosotros (as)
de ustedes, ellos (as)
