Home study activitySay the When’s Your Birthday? chant with your child. Take turns chanting each part.

Have your child draw pictures of the activities, two drawings for each activity. Talk about the pictures and identify what’s in each one. Then play a matching game with the pictures. Turn all the pictures face down, in random order, and take turns turning two of them over. Ask your child What did you do yesterday? If the pictures match, your child should say I flew a kite and then keep the pictures. If they don’t match, your child will answer with a sentence about each picture and then turn the pictures face down again. Reverse roles.

Home study activityTalk with your child about the various activities the children are doing on p. 26 or in the pictures that your child draws for each activity. Play a game of charades and act out the activities. The person who acts out the activity should ask What happened? The other person guesses, saying You (won a race). To make the game more challenging, have the person guessing include the time that the event or activity took place using the hour or half hour (1:00, 5:30, 9:00, 10:30, for example). Play the game on p. 27.
