Families and the Gospel Aug. 5 (John 6:24-35) In today’s gospel Jesus tells us: “Do not work for what
perishes.” Give your life to what endures such as the
family history you are creating, the love and mutual
respect which bonds you together, the memories you
share and the forgiveness generously given. These ae
the true treasures that are worth working and dying for.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MANNA? WHAT IS THIS?
When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor
his disciples were there, they themselves got
into boats and came to Capernaum
looking for Jesus. John 6: 24
THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP
AS A WAY OF LIFE
“Each day the people are to go out and gather their
daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they
follow my instructions or not.”
Exodus 16: 4
When the Israelites gathered more than their daily
portion of manna, the surplus became wormy and rotten.
In the same way today, self-reliance, pride and ego leads
to hoarding and excessive surplus of goods and money.
Living a stewardship lifestyle helps us discern our
“wants” from our “needs”. Living a generous lifestyle
reminds us that God will provide all that we need and
that we have plenty to share.

THANK YOU. . For many decades The Friar’s Shop in Loretto, PA has served the local community
providing religious gifts for every occasion. Through
the years we have often sold both baptism and wedding
gifts for the same recipient. It has been a true pleasure
to build relationships with so many faithful, regular
customers. However, times have changed a great deal.
It is hard for any brick and mortar store to compete with
the online giants. It is with great sadness that we must
announce that the Friar’s Shop is closing. Our last day
of operation will be Saturday, September 15th. We will
be offering storewide discounts to help reduce
inventory. We thank you all for your friendship and
support through the years. May God Bless you all.

Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist please join
our group on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM in the
Gathering Space beginning September 5th. For more
